Wing chun looks so legit in demo. And the good fighters in the past use wing chun. Like bruce lee, wong shun leung. They have crazy speed with their hand and highly sensitive arms (trapping). Extremely fast straight blast etc etc.(search on youtube for example samuel kwok). But why we never see it against real kickboxer/boxer/mma fighters? If it doesnt work. Why guys bruce lee,ip man, wong shun leung be the best with wing chun? And if you look the history of wong shun leung. He beat all style with his wing chun.

0 successful WC fighters, because it only works in theory.
Bruce Lee knew that WC is shitty for fighting, that's why he copied other martial arts and replaced most of wc techniques with them.
WC has good propaganda, but it's an art, not for real fighting.

Overall, Wing Chun just isn't an effective style.

There are some things that seem effective though that was implemented in Lee's JKD.

Such as throwing a punch by lifting from your elbow rather than your shoulder, Michael Jai White pointed it out and Anderson Silva knocked out Yushin Okami doing that very concept. You just don't see it coming and it's harder to read, so even though there isn't as much power. You can catch an opponent blind sided with it.

Bruce Lee is a special cat, no doubt about it, but who knows how he would have fought if he lived in the MMA age.
He had no internet, no videos, nothing. He had only his mind and his dojo.

Wing chun is all about eye and throat strikes.
Most effective martial art that is not utilized fully in MMA (or entertainment sports).

Because kickboxers/boxers/mma fighters are real fighters, Bruce Lee was an actor. Wing Chun might look good in demo or a movie, but in real life it doesn't work.

My friends dad was Wing Chun black belt and thought he was some deadly killing machine. He got into a bar fight once, the only time he'd ever had a real fight in his life, and got knocked out cold within seconds by some drunk who'd never set foot in a gym in his life.

Ah, the old 'it's too deadly for sport' line lmfao. Amazing that in 2016 (and on an internet forum dedicated to fighting of all places) there are still people who believe this bs.

Wong shun leung fight and beat every style with his wing chun? You must search it on google. It means that it works then?

There are many facts in Bruce Lee's life they point out he was a true martial artist and an extremely exceptional one. It is precisely what led to his acting opportunities. People act like acting and being a martial artist is mutually exclusive or something. So is Randy couture just an actor now? I suppose now Ronda is just an actress. I get so tired of this statement that he was just an actor. Geez, people act like he's the same thing is Kianu Reeves in the matrix or something. It's so dishonest.

P.s. Siri not working well at the moment. Oh well, I think you can tell what I meant

Randy Couture actually fought, we have videos of his fights, he has an actual record and so on. Bruce Lee was an actor who's fighting abilities are based solely on demos, what he did in movies, assumptions, hearsay, myth and rumors.

Have you ever seen Bruce Lee fight?

I don't know about Wing Chun specifically but Cung Le was a sanshou fighter but had some success

Roy Nelson, hilariously, may be the best example of kung fu in mma. Actively trains kung fu, used to even claim it was his main style, KOs with ridge hand strikes etc

I tend to think lots of martial arts have things to offer in MMA. Not in isolation obviously but they can add skills to help a fighter. TKD for example - lots of kickboxers and MMA fighters have TKD bases now and it gives them useful attacks to add into their game

I want to ask your opinion. Why do you think wing chun doesnt work? The trapping hand, straight blast ?

None, because:

Outside strike, wing chun no can defend.

I took Wing Chung and agree it's not a great fighting style (was cool to do in front of girls when I was in high school though), but I'm very suspicious about your story.
