I started watching mostly UFC around 6-7 years ago. How I got into it was seeing Pride clips of Wanderlei, Shogun and Rampage. When I saw their highlights, I was immediately intrigued.

But when i started really becoming a serious fan of UFC, these guys seemed to be a shell of their former selves. I feel sad that I missed out on their glory days but I feel like if I was really into MMA early, these 3 guys as well as Fedor would have been on my fave list.

That being said, I have nothing but respect for all these fighters especially Fedor. I kind of equate it to getting seriously into basketball post Michael Jordan. Jordan to me is the GOAT but my favourite player that I watched is Kobe Bryant.

Do you have any fighters who you think if you had watched earlier you would have been a huge fan?

First fight Wand got with Saku. I didn't understand how someone getting destroyed in 2 mins was actually the favorite and considered one of the best in MMA.

    Feels weird thinking about now.

    El Guapo.

I love the guy but I didn't even get to watch the Warpath fight in real time, despite being an MMA fan since UFC 6.

I did not get into pride until close to the end, so I also missed out on a lot of fighters during thier glory days. I have watched almost all of the fights now but it's not the same as being there while the hype is building.

To answer your question ts I would say gomi.

I have been watching since 03 so my list would be short.

Bas and Igor. I didn't see my first Igor fight until 2004 and he retired in 05 after 2 straight losses to Overeem and Nakamura.

Only live Bas fight I saw was his return in 06.

I have since really come to appreciate both men's career and fights.

The first fight I watched was Shamrock vs Diaz, it got intrigued so I stated watching their fights on Youtube and became a fan of both. Since then, I've always been saying that Frank would've been my favourite fighter back then.

Started watching too early to really have an answer for this. It makes a big difference to your MMA perspective when you follow the sport for a long time. When people have only watched for a short time and then make broad generalizations or disparage certain fighters, it can be super annoying. But I guess it makes sense.
