Fighters who have tapped to strikes in the UFC

You described the line perfectly. There's a difference between giving up at the first sign of trouble and knowing that you're out of options. If you get hit with a strike and all of a sudden you're blind and there's an unusual level of pain like Lawler vs MacDonald 2 (he didn't tap, but he had every right to do so) tapping shouldn't be demonized.

Nobody who does this for a living is tapping to anything less than being FOOOKING ROCKED.

Like you're not out but the fucking tinnitus kicked in and your limbs are not responding properly to your brain and this is the biggest defensive movement you can muster.

Aint nothing wrong with that tap.

Yeah its pretty damning that shogun tapped twice.

Very cowardly IMO.

Off top of my head..
pat Smith rip
Cal Worsham rip
Manny Yarborough rip
Harold Howard
There's way more
But also Alex shoenaer sp? On tuf

There is nothing wrong with tapping to strikes

Sounds nice. Doesnt hold up to reality. When youre in the worlds premier organization for showcasing the warriors heart even above that of technical fighting prowess, the natural consequence of showing any amount of quit is going to be a loss of respect. Even among those like you who SAY theres nothing wrong with it----but then give that heightened sense of praise & admiration to those who never tap, even when things appear most grim. So if you think it'll spare your brain some CTE, sure, go for it, nothing wrong with it as you say; just know IN REALITY you'll be giving it up elsewhere.

What the Sam hell are you talking about? There were a lot of words but none of them meant anything

I have never heard ANYONE distinguish between people who have or haven't tapped in terms of admiration and respect. GSP was voted the GOAT by Sherdog, both the old poll and the new one done not long ago. I think that's the apex of respect.

It is a few pimple-faced, sexless geeks on the internet that try to make up this pseudo macho crap that they could never live up to themselves in this lifetime. Nobody else give a shit, and certainly fighters like GSP don't lose any sleep over the incels on the internet.

But at what point does "smart" become weak/defeatist/cowardly. I dont want to see this become normalized. Then you'll have a bunch of guys giving up at the first sign of trouble. I always respect the ones who never tap to anything even submissions the most.
Hell yea! Gracie life! Rip it off and still no tap. I mean if you tap to broken bones, torn tendons and dislocated joints the next thing you know you are tapping to ankle locks.

All of your replies are soaked in insecurity over your idol. I said nothing about GSP. No need to get butthurt about reality. Everyone who stepped into the cage in the early days through the golden era held this attitude. The vast majority still do. The fans do. I dont give a shit what they SAY, its about what they DO. And ALL OF THEM give more respect to the guy who doesnt tap than the one who does. High key, low key, whatever. It takes a blackbelt in mental jiu jitsu to turn the tapper into the new archetype or highbar of machismo, and the one thats reluctant to tap into the coward. But thats exactly what youre attempting to do. Shift the culture of MMA and of fundamental facts about reality. I guess youre willing to move heaven and earth for your mancrush. Youre lying to yourself if you think you arent still the minority opinion holder and always will be.

Btw sherdog has an obvious bias against Jones who is the actual GOAT. Objectively. And guess what, he never tapped. Judging by the reaction he gave to Vitor almost ripping his arm off, he never would. Like I said, you want to be spared some CTE or ligament damage fine, I dont blame you, but theres consequences. Like not getting to be the GOAT.

BS, it is extremely wrong. That asshole deprived us of the many pages of discussion arguing if the ref's stoppage was too early or too late.
all those submissions that could have been TKO's..... what a waste
