This thread was inspired by thinking about how Miesha Tate has fought only women probably stronger than herself starting with the Zingano fight. Cat, Ronda, Carmouche, McMann, and even Rin Nakai were likely stronger than her pure strength wise. Other examples would be Frank Mir who was outmuscled by Brock, Carwin, Barnett, Overeem, Cormier, and likely even Bigfoot though he KOed BF before any strength difference could come into play, Condit who fought GSP, Hendricks, Woodley, and Rory, and of course BJ Penn at WW. Frankie Edgar is almost always the smaller man which likely puts him at a strength disadvantage... who are some other fighters who tend to play the role of the physical underdog?

Hell, pretty much every Japanese dude that fought in Pride usually had a situation on their hands.

Wight cut will kill ya.

I was actually going with Fedor as he fought some unlimited or nearly unlimited dudes in his day. But this idea of the drain from a cut, got me thinking on a whole new level.

Still...

Also many Japanese dudes who tried to fight in America against a weight cutting opponent.

Nick Diaz... Mac Danzig.... kind of a similar reason I assume, although Shields sort of disproves it....

I wouldn't call Frankie weak per say. He is quite strong. Matching Maynard and Benson in the grappling department and getting the better of them occasionally.
