As most of you know Mike Perry has been calling out Robbie Lawler since forever yet the fight still hasn't happened. This goes back to 2016 when Platinum made his debut and he's still pushing hard for this fight today.

There's obviously a reason why fighters stick to calling out specific fighters over a period of time whether this be for personal reasons, on rare occasions like Conor for the huge pay day or simply because they feel it'll be a great fight which is probably the case between Mike Perry and Robbie Lawler.

Though has there been any specific long time call out's that have never happened which you would like to see?

I would like to see Perry's GF calling out someone like she did Oliviera's team

Tony and Cowboy have been calling out Conor for quite some time now.

I'm trying to think what Mike Perry has done to earn a fight with Robbie. Nothing is coming to mind though.

I think the Conor thing is a different kettle of fish, people are forever calling Conor out for the pay day mainly or the challenge because of who he is however he fights who he wants to fight when he wants to fight sooo lol

Alexander Volkanovski was calling out Jeremy Stephens for awhile before Jeremy got back to being a lightswitch fighter and Alex completely leap-froged him in the rankings.

Perry wants to fight Lawler because they will both stand and bang and it will be an exciting fight. If Lawler loses to Covington, he might drop in the standing enough to be in Perry's territory. I always root for Robbie, but would like to see him fight Perry sometime.:)

Yeah same, Lawler has been in various places throughout this whole call out so we know it's nothing to do with where he is in the rankings or whatever but more so along the lines of what you mentioned here.

I'd like to see the fight also, I reckon it would be really good.

He fought.. some..guy..
I think he won... maybe. Possibly. Not sure if likely.

I'd love to see the in-cage culmination of the Werdum-Rockhold grudge.

They haven't been close in the rankings. Look at the guys Robbie been fighting compared to the Perry. It has everything to do with Rankings.

I won't speak for anyone else, but I can't think of a single reason how a Perry/Lawler fight isn't anything but fireworks.

Still want to see Lawler punch out Covington first though.

I agree, it'd be a great fight for the fans, I hope it happens at some point.

Sometimes fights just need to happen because they're a great fight for the fans, I mean do they always need to be earned as such when we know we've got a fantastic fight potential here that would bring in the crowds and the fights many would love.

Of course if we're talking about belts and title shots then yeah, they absolutely should be earned but sometimes it's good to have fights outside of that which this is one of.

Sure, by default if Perry won he'd no doubt go up in the rankings somewhere and there is the risk of Lawler dropping if he was to lose but fighters are supposed to go in to win, keep their spots and continue to rise so whether they lose to a lower ranked opponent or a higher one it's all still about earning your place and sustaining your spot in the end anyway.

Sometimes there isn't a choice either because all other fights just simply can't be booked, Al Iaquinta vs Cowboy is a recent example of this. Al was offered fight with Dustin, Tony etc.. and accepted them all (it was those guys who refused cause they wanted a higher opponent or whatever) so he took the Cowboy fight instead, knowing it was a lower ranked opponent and knowing he's risking his current ranking if he was to lose (which he did) so ya know, once this Colby and Lawler fight is over if the fight with Perry and Lawler happened to be booked (regardless of the Colby/Lawler result), I don't think it would be a bad thing.

Sometimes we need these fights to be booked for the fans and if going by rankings and earning the fights, that's why we miss out on so many potential great fights cause they're too busy constantly chasing the title.
