Jones and Masvidal dont want to fight during carona so they are using this time they are going to sit out any way to try and renegotiate better deals.

I think Masvidal is about the pay cut. He got a lot to fight Diaz but UFC saw Diaz as the draw and doesn't believe he can draw the interest alone. Doesn't want him fighting Conner cause of size difference. His in a pretty frustrating spot, thinks he can threaten his way to more money. I am not so sure.

Jon Jones on the other hand is insane. Thinks he should get 10 times more to move up. I doubt it is going to happen. I think people would buy his fight if he moved up, but interest would be about the same. His best bet of a big money fight is Cormier gets back heavyweight title and then they fight at heavyweight.

i thought jones and masvidal had deals with recuerdo
they are sponsored by carana now? doesn't UFC have a deal with modelo, the queen of beers?

Other athletes are taking a pay cut this year due to shortened seasons and no fans. UfC has no fans in the seats so much less revenue. The fighters can't make more right now it doesn't make sense. I'm very pro-fighter when it comes to pay, the reebok deal etc... but not this.

Jones isn't asking for 50M, is he? 15M would be 3x, not 10.

Jorge should cut back to 155 and fight Khabib/Gaethje winner if he wants more money.

Bout the.dumbest shit I ever heard go protest blm or something

People think they know what's going on with others.. love to give there wrong opinions.

Jbj wanted a bigger contract to.love up. To hw.. no figures were discussed.. dana says jbj wanted 30 mill for francis fight

Jbj says no numbers discussed if that's the case you'd think dana would try and make an offer.. but instead it's clear hes lieing.

Ufc has always ben a greedy company ripping off their athletes for years..

When dana has to pay chuck liddel out of his pocket to retire...

Says a alot then again dana makes 20 mill salary with incentives and has more money than mayweather with benefits..

He can always shell out 1 to 15 million to help somone out every year out of his wallet.. and go and lose that at the casino like its nothing...

Fertitas are jokes everyone needs to stop buying the PPV and they'd sink

Young healthy people under 45 w/ no pre-existing health conditions are more likely to die from a lightning strike or bee sting than Corona.

Good effort tho.

ya, i'm pretty sure all fighters friends, and family's kids and parents are ALL completely healthy and have NO pre-consisting conditions. cuz everyone knows that when they even have a pre existing condition.

so i bet getting that 10k/10k is totally worth the chance of burying someone.

also, not to mention that Merica literally had the worst response for any first world country in the world. you never even remotely got control of the virus and then you opened up, took zero safety measures, even killed people who told you to wear a mask.

and now the number of cases is skyrocketing again, but of course Merica did everything they could, they threw, guns, politics, and jesus at it.

You don't know exactly what his asking. I was just pulling random numbers.

At the end of the day if it 3x, do you think it will draw 3x the last Jones fight? I doubt it.

Cocaine prices gonna drop when all the PDs get disbanded so Jones should actually get less money

How the fuck do you give so many opinions in one post after that 1st paragraph?

I dont understand

Does he have to draw 3x to make appropriate money if he was previously underpaid? Asking for 6% instead of 2% or 3% instead of 1% isn't necessarily asking for too much in the overall scheme of things. Especially when the split is heavily in favor of the promoter.

If he was asking for 10x, as you initially said, it would be a bit different. Then he might be swaying the split heavily in the other direction.

It isn't that straight forward. Not like other orgs are jumping up and down to pay them more. If there was really that much profit an entrepreneur/promoter would swoop in with big checks to get ppl to leave UFC.

For the top fighters there is a clear correlation between pay and ability to draw.

I earn my work quite a few multiples of what I earn each year. That said if I left and tried to do it alone I wouldn't have the infrastructure or draw/appeal to generate the same amount of revenue/profit. They need me (or someone like me) to make the money and I need them to make it. This is kind of the same in UFC. Can Jones earn more elsewhere? at the moment I am not sure about that. Can the UFC still sell without Jones? I think so, they haven't had any problems in the past.

There is clearly a problem with the stars feeling undervalued, but there might also be a problem with the revenues not growing. Having no gate clearly hurts UFC revenue wise. Honestly the fighters I would love to see paid more are the undercard. Some of those pays they clearly can't be full time athletes. When the goal is to "make UFC" and you still can't earn a living is sad.

Not saying they don't deserve more etc. Just they are running a business there are competing objectives. That is why pay is a negotiation. It is a tough gig, i am glad I don't have to do it. It is also interesting the fighters are so public about it when they have a manager who is meant to be sorting out pay.
