Birthplace of Current UFC Champions
HW: Werdum-Porto Alegre, Brazil
LHW: Jones-Rochester, NY *340 Miles ->NYC or DC(for now): Lafayette, Louisiana
MW:Weidman- Baldwin, Long Island, NY (30 miles from NYC) (mommies hometown)
WW: Robbie Lawler- San Diego, California + Iowa?
LW:RDA-Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
FW:Aldo-Manaus, Brazil or McGregor- Dublins, Ireland
BW:Killashaw-Northern California

Anyway, my question is, if you had to pick one city/metropolitan area, what would you call the biggest hotbed of elite MMA talent.

Looking at CURRENT UFC, I must go with the New York tri-state area: 1. Weidman 2. Frankie Edgar 3. Uriah "Moose tamer" Hall 4. Ragin Al Iaquinta and im probably missing some. (Does NOT include Jones since Rochester is closer to Toronto then NYC)

Is NY the breeding ground for the toughest sons o bitches in the world?
or is it
Upstate New York (Jon "bones" Jones, Hashad Evans) Southern Cali, Northern Cali, Phoenix AZ, Toronto Ont. Canada, Curitiba Brazil, Rio, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Stockholm, somewhere else I did not mention?

What do yalls think? Feel free to include Pride guys and retirees/veterans if that floats your boat!

Fellas, be Civil, No USA's or Brazil's in this Rodeo! Please do not disrupt this Inquiry!

Fighters come from all kinds of places and stations in life. I don't think it matters that much as long as you have access to good training

Long Island's becoming quite the hotbed.

Long Island is definitely becoming quite a hotbed.

Your location says Bronx, which I know is a tough place (I grew up in Westchester near the BRP lol). How come there are no tough fighters from the Bronx? Where the 'ricans at?

Ahhh the AV getting me amped for the Randa/KK fight.

Why is Virginia so mediocre then? Vera and James Krause still run that joint? Virginians too busy plowing Smoked hams in their face? Or is VA just soft in general? haha just messing around

The Bronx is a huge boxing & basketball area, and you're right, there are some real avoidable areas up here. A shit ton of your local boxing gyms. Liam McGeary doesn't live too far away from me though.

here where I live in san diego we got a ton of good fighters, makes for interesting street fights.

Dagestan. I know its not a city, but there are almost ten times less people than in NY so who cares. Dagestan is easily "the biggest hotbed of MMA talent" currently.

California and nevada have the most stars I would think

If you look at sheer population volume the NY tristate area is of course going to have a ton of fighter come from that area

The Republic of Dagestan has been producing some serious contenders these days. It's only a matter of time until one become a dominate champ.

Stockton 209? Haha

Stockton: Diaz bros.

209: all the above plus Michael McDonald, Jake Shields, TJ Dillashaw.

Northern California: all the above plus Cain, Rockhold, Josh Thomson, Cung Le, Mark Munoz, Urijah Faber.

I'm sure there are other vets.
