It's Cody and it isn't really that close. 4-0 in 2016 with 3 first round KOs and dominated the BW GOAT knocking him down, beating his ass and dancing the robot on him.

That is superior to almost losing to a couple of past their prime legends and beating Luke Salthold. Cody never even struggled in 2016. Ran through everyone he fought including the champ. Bisping almost got KO'd by a 90 year old Hendo that he handpicked TWICE... and debatably lost the fight!

Bisping's year was definitely amazing and I think Stipe deserves more love than he's getting in the discussion too but it shouldn't be close

Neck tattoos should be the fighter of the year

I agree. His performance last night was something special.

They'll still give it to Conor doe.

Amanda. She went from a nobody to headlining two very big ppv cards.

Cody never had a round like she did against Shevchenko where she was just trying to make it to the bell

Shevchenko is champion level talent. Everyone Amanda beat was at the highest level of the division.

Cody beat Augusto Mendes and a Mehzugaki. Almeida and Cruz were outstanding wins though.

Stipe is 2nd to Nunes. Then Cody then Bisping.

Codt went full fucking hybrid Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz. Fuck what anyone says, he absolutely dominated Cruz. Fucking Dominated.

Cruz is also on another level to anyone Nunes has ever fought in her career and he besmirched him

And you can only fight who they put in front of you. Cody ran through everyone. Nunes did not

Yea Cody had a great year. Not quite as good as Stipe or Nunes though but it was damn good.

1. Stipe (3 first round KOs of a veteran, the champ, and legitimate #1 contender)
2. Cody (4-0 and came out of nowhere)
3. Nunes (had trouble with Shevchenko but first round KOs of Tate and Rousey)
4. Joanna J (still quietly dominant and undefeated. Had some trouble in the fights with Karolina and Gadhela but clearly won)
5. Bisping (a journeyman who finally achieved his goal. Got lucky against Rockhold and survived near KOs in his other 2 fights)
6. Conor (1-1 against Nate and quickly finished a handpicked opponent. ESPN will give him the 1 spot based on PPV buyrates)
7. Mighty Mouse (dominant but nothing spectacular)
8. Woodley (won the title then had a draw)
9. Wonderboy (earned the top contenders spot and fought to a draw)
10. Phil Davis (won the Bellator title and I still think UFC gave up on him too soon)

Mirko Cro Cop: Has 4 finish in 2016.

Cody got the decision but I didn't see him win that fight.

A rematch is in order.

Anyone whose platform to shine was that close shouldn't be in the running lest it be clear cut.
