A very common but true saying in sports is, no one beats father time.

However, i would like to ask you your personal favourite instances where an older veteran beat a young up and comer, when a lot of people picked against them simplly due to age.

Couture Sylvia
Nogueira Schaub
Frankie Yair (fuck yeah, Frankie is the man!)
Henderson vs Lombard

Bonus points for it being from one of the lighter weight classes since it is more rare there.

Lombard is by no means a young up and comer, heck he’s pretty old too, Hendo is just really really old.

I think you can clearly see how the higher weight classes are less affected by father time.

Hunt, Werdum, Overeem, DC, Manuwa are examples of fighters that can hang with the young ones. At MW you have Romero and Bisping.

I wonder why younger fighters seem have trouble in, say, the HW division. Fighters at 30-35 years of age can still be consider prospects in there.

Good thread. Those times when experience beats youth are good.
Rare for a reason, but.

Power and strength are the last things to go

Take your pick on which fight.

Mark Hunt outlasting Black Beast in a firefight.

Mark is 11 years older and has been fighting MMA and kickboxing since the 90s

Yeah Nhannou just turned 31, Derrick Lewis 32. Power is the last thing to go they say, so the big bruisers can still dish it out without the lost of speed and agility.
