Cowboy said he wanted to fight six times a year and it got me thinking about Mirko who took alot of fights in PRIDE. Hed come to japan and have a major fight and stick around for awhile and take a bushido fight against a tomato can

obviously guys made alot less money back then so they took whatever they could,but it seems interesting when compared to today.
 
I'm not sure what the point of thread is TS...

I too would like to see the top guys fight a bit more often, if that's what you're getting at.

its just a comparison i dont mean to say guys should fight this often anymore,its just interesting
 
Yeah, different times!

Shogun beat Lil Nog, Arona, Overeem and Rampage in lije 4 months... pretty impressive list right there!
 
I'm sure it's not the only reason, but fighters may have a harder time getting licensed for frequent fights these days (at least in the States). There's also medical suspensions that I'm not sure were a thing back then.
 
Fighting that often=shorter career

Mirko fought 13 times from 2004 to 2005. Cain fought that much from 2006 to 2013.
