So I want to learn self defense from all areas, striking, ground, throws, and takedowns. Well I've taken some sport bjj, tkd and boxing before, but I want to be well rounded. So I was wondering if anyone knows of this gym and if it looks like n effective gym. I guess the trainer is mostly a "catch wrestler" (whatever that is) than bjj (I think he's a blue belt in bjj but mostly trains catch wrestling). Thanks for your ideas in advance.

The gym founders are from Tallahassee, and we used to train together. They're good people. Regardless of that, my advice regarding any gym is to go and try it out, and if you like it, stay.

Oh awesome! It's cool to meet someone who's trained there. It seems like a well rounded place for self defense. Thank you for your comment, I'll try it out soon

Where do you live in CO? I'm not familiar with these guys, and I compete very actively on the local grappling circuit (though most gi than no-gi, so that could be why I don't know them).

I'm in Thornton, these guys are kinda in uptown denver. On the corner of Santi Fe and 9th. I don't think it's a place for cempetitive grappling though, they seem to lean more towards the essentials of grappling and self defense.

TFW is definitely reasonably legit we see their fighters in local MT and MMA bouts a lot. I'm not sure about the grappling tourneys specifically but I'd assume they are around as well.

That being said there are tons of other great gyms in the Denver area as well, such as The Grugde, Factory X, Zinganos (black house). It depends what your interest is which school will suit you out. With so many in one area i recommend checking a few out.
