Well I have a fight coming up in 3 weeks. It's my first fight so what can I do right now to prepare me most for the fight?

    I'm 16 so it'll be semi-contact.
    Been training for 4 months.
This will be a Sanda fight so right now my sifus making me practise takedowns a lot.

Should I be making cardio short and intense rather than going for long steady jogs? If so, could I do say Tabatas say 2-3 times a week along with some bas rutten tapes on top of my training?

Get used to getting nervous and fighting while nervous if you can. Spar with guys that you aren't comfortable with to get used to the feeling of the actual fight.

Intense Cardio is usually better since your fight probably won't be that long. Long steady jobs won't be as beneficial as sprints, normally you get 1 minute rest and your rounds won't too long so you want to find your pace quite quickly.

Thanks mate! And congratulations about your tko win. I'm only doing that kind of training for 2 weeks so I doubt I will over-train that quickly. This plan may change depending on the details of the fight, which I most probably will know by tomorrow.

interesting, i got a fight coming up too lol

SanShou as well, maybe we might be that the same place.

Honestly, work on your cardio and stay busy and get your game together. Fighting is easy, thats why you train. The hardest part is mentally preparing. I love gray's quote.

"Every fight is about breaking somebody's will."

A lot of guys loose before they go in because they get scared. Martial arts as cheesy as it sounds is about building confidence. Being mentally ready even at light contact is just as important as being physically ready.

    good luck man!
