An average sized Sherdogger bumping into a pro fighter? I hope poor dude wasn't hurt too bad
Seriously, I have a soft spot for Guram... was gutted when both he and my countryman Jordan"Air"Jousset got cut from the UFC a month or so ago (hopefully things have changed, haven't been on Sherdog much since that time)
To be fair, Guram Kutateladze was injured half the time, and did't win many many... as meast Jousset I hopê they'd invite him back for the next UFC in France, even if it's for the main eent of the undercard.
When Gurm entered the UFC as a big underdog against "Alpha Gamer"Gamrot, he was supposed to be a sacrifice to the Just Bleed Gods but he made it a dog fight and won a split decision + FOTN (not that was that judge who gave Gamrot round 1 was drinking, but it wasn't the same % as the others).
Check this one out if you're bored and don't mind having the resut spoiled (you'll notice that I haven't spoiled that Bendo/Gracie grappling bout above, it's a solid one with a good finidj d, vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv)
I also recall Guram for his valliant effort a couple years in the grappling event headlined by Benson "Smooth" Henderson vs Neiman Gracie (no spoilerz plz!!!)
Guram was overmatched in that one, they fed the poor Georgian Viking (who is more of a kickboxer who recently got into BJJ) to local ground maniac Marcin "The Polish Prodigy" Held, one of the best/move active European grapplers out there, that you might now:
-from MMA: fought in the UFC, Bellator, PFL, KSW; and he beat some solid names all over, and only lost to the best (except for that embrassing upset loss to Diego Sanchez in the UFC)
-from grappling: competed a few times at Polaris, and is a regular at my man Saku's Quintet
Anyway, next event no to miss for me: in 4 days, RIZIN in Korea!
Almost all MMA, just 2 kickboxing bouts to spice things up \o/
But I know only one of the 4 kickboxers, Hide Meison Usami from Japan (but he lives and trains in Canada, and is 24 years old)
I saw him fight in K-1 MAX 2004 in which he finished his decorated K-1 veteran opponent, Shirasu, by KO in the first round... and earlier at a Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye event in which he beat mega-K-1 star Albert Kraus from Holland, who also fought in Glory, and many other orgs .
I also recall him beating French kickboxer Jamal Wahim (a highly decorated ISKA kickboxer) by KO in the first round
All of this to say that this card shoumd be good, and I'm glad that a kickboxing bout excites me in advance!
And I know who I'll be rooting for
