The old US sides perhaps but this one really looks much better going forward than it does at the back to me.

Honestly you could almost say the same kind of shift has happened with England, bigger nation with bigger expectations of course but really for much of the last 20 years it was more "play not to loose" at major events were as the current side look like they could on their day beat anyone.

Although honestly it should have been much more comfortable than that, should have been 2-3 up in the first half and gone.

Iran were absolutely awful. Slow as dirt and not very technical either.

Making it a cagey game and hoping for some magic up top and holding on to a 1-0 is the only hope against Netherlands.

They've been strange at this world cup, much of the time they've looked aweful but then you get a flash of brilliance going forward like the first goals against England and Wales, some of those balls forward late on here were god aweful though.

Really it makes for much more enjoyable watching, whats made watching England so terrible for much of my life has been the way we threw games away as much as lost them, endless matches were we ever played for a draw or went 1-0 up, sat back and conceded.

Games were England genuinely got destroyed and badly outplayed at WC's actually quite rare considering we've only reached one semi in the last 32 years.

Idk Netherlands looked super unimpressive imo. If usa is to beat them, there's no better chance than in this WC.

They don't look like there going to rip sides apart like classic Dutch teams could but they do look pretty well organised with decent quality going forward.

Again my feeling is probably 2-3 US chances are going to need to be taken to win rather than trying for 0-0 or holding on for 1-0.
