Fertittas crack Forbes 400 Richest Americans

I generally tune out anyone who has the tone of 'average citizens are not smart enough to understand this...so we will decide for them' which your post rings with. It has been the war cry of the socialist minded for a long time and quite frankly I find it patronizing and insulting.

What most average citizen know is that when they make choices to work and earn money, they don't want anyone else forcibly digging deeper and deeper into their pocket on the premise of 'I know more then you and can take this money from you and spend it on you, better then you can for yourself'.

We all understand that some level of 'intrusion' is necessary as part of an organized society but that should be kept to an absolutely bare minimum. And all the political parties fall at that.

I see a lot of hay formed into the shape of a man.

That was your response? You don't have an original thought in your head, do you?

Huh? Are you seeing pink elephants right now? Go back and read what I wrote, and argue that point and not some pet agenda of yours. Even if I were interested in discussing the merits of socialism vs capitalism, I probably could find a much better sparring partner, considering how uninformed and unoriginal your diatribe was, dear.

What exactly are you babbling about?

Feel free to point out me arguing "some pet agenda of mine"

Btw, your diatribe was hardly original, dear

I wasn't trying to pretend that it was. That's where you and I differ. People like you make me laugh. Simply repeat mindless liberal drivel, pretend it's original and thought provoking..

You don't seem to understand that you're paying for it, regardless of the way it's billed to you. You're going to pay out more in taxes, you're going to pay out more in insurance costs. Eventually the pool of employed Americans who can actually afford to buy things and pay taxes is going to shrink down to nothing. Where will our country be then? A lot of Obamacare supporters don't seem to take that into consideration. It's already happening. All of that for health care that won't be as good because it's run by the Government.

Bro, tell me all about being poor. I've been there. I got off my ass and worked to make my life better. I didn't sit around making excuses and waiting for someone else to pay my way. Welfare is horribly exploited.

The current healthcare system in America fails terribly at primary care, and fails terribly at synthesizing specialist care, which portends terribly for the future. The bottom line is that the healthcare system needs to be revamped from the focus on trauma and infectious diseases to primary care and chronic illness management, and medical schools have failed at recognizing the need for this change.

Beyond that, when healthcare dollars are being spent paying shareholders (for insurance companies, for profit hospitals, and for pharma companies) instead of paying hospitals, and healthcare professionals, the healthcare system is going to fail from the outset, as the science is hijacked.

The disabled and the sickest are pushed out of the insurance system onto state and federally funded systems anyway, or they drain community hospitals, while insurance companies have gotten to cherry pick individual insurance candidates, and get to dump injured and sick workers from group plans when they lose/ and or can't afford their benefits.

Conservative minded people seem to be convinced that public policy issues are intellectual exercises, and that the arguments they are espousing from what they hear on media outlets are about ideals, and are not coordinated campaigns by those with something to lose who don't want change for that reason.

By the way Flannelograf, you made no attempt to answer the questions I asked you...

That 1.3 billion is primarily made from their casino enterprise, which is a completely different company. You don't pay the employees of one company from the profits of the other company. At least when the company isn't a startup.

It's a matter of cost. we're already terribly in debt. Large percentages of the population out of work. Obamacare is simply going to put more pressure on an economy that is at it's breaking point.

awesome. So what's the point?

since they're worth a billion each does that mean the minimum UFC fighters pay should be a million a fight, even for low tier fighters???

I just know that since they're successful, somehow this will result in hate from casual trailer park MMA fans

I think the bulk of their fortune comes from other business ventures. So it really doesnt have anything to do with the UFC.. calm yourself.

Just imagine how many starving children could be fed in the homeland with that kind of money. How many homeless guys be brought to smile with a hot coffee on a cold winter day.

I will never understand why Americans are so preoccupied with how filthy rich other people are when there are still questions like that around.

Oh wait I do! Capitalism will do that to you.

I just hope they keep investing in the UFC.

Yeah Americans are the only people preoccupied with money. Why do you have internet (a luxury) to post on Sherdog to discuss MMA(a luxury) when you could be passing out coffee to those homeless people? As rich as the Fertittas are, they create more jobs and donate more money than you ever will in fifty lifetimes. Think about it for a while before you disconnect your internet and join the Peace Corps for the rest of your life.

How many starving children have you personally fed?

I thought so.

Seriously, this is getting silly. Learn to read and understand context and then we can talk. Until then I'm out.

Bill Gates is not impressed by the wealth accrued by the Fertitta brothers.

That is short term thinking for one, and is a generality and a scare tactic that does not address the issue. You are getting people who would not have been covered receiving insurance from private companies, the federal government's version of an insurance company was abandoned long ago, per the insurance companies. and those who are poor are receiving state funded care, and charity care from community hospitals, as usual. Primary care is going to save Medicare costs in the long run, that is well documented in health care systems across the globe. With Medicare, getting young people to pay into a healthcare system that they will use later in life, and getting them to understand the importance and impact of their health behavior and how to manage their own health through good primary care is absolutely necessary. The health care system needs dramatic changes, that isn't political, how to change it for whose benefit is political, but there are benefits from a public health perspective and from the Medicare perspective, and that is where the federal government is spending the money already.

save your logical thoughts for someone else. The dude has opinions and there's no changing it. I tried time and time again to explain the AHCA is a long term solution, not a short term solution, and it fell on deaf ears.

plus wtf.. The economy is at it's best since 2002 right now. Is it back to the Clinton days? No. But it's a night and day difference from the Bush days.

Opponents still seem to think everyone is getting Medicare now, and that nobody received it before. Conservatives are easy to wind up with threats of change of any kind through the government, yet they have total trust for businesses, and they are the ones most affected by this.
