If Tony is careless and goofs around, Chiesa will submit him, I don't doubt that. I think the pace that Tony fights at, is too fast for Chiesa...
The only notable TUF fighter that Chiesa beat was Vick (and it was a good win). The others were your typical TUF scrubs that don't hack it on the big stage. Regardless, Tony KO'd or (T)KO'd all three of his TUF scrubs. He beat who ever he was put in there with, so you can't knock him on that.okay so 11-2 vs 13-1.. Fairly similar records.. Except Chiesa actually fought notable people during his TUF run. I personally have Tony winning 65/35 but it seems Chiesa is far too underrated on these boards. I met the dude in person and he is HUGE for a lw. I'm 6'2 and he was basically the same size as me but thicker. Chiesa has the tools to win this fight.
Chiesa went 4-0 on TUF not including the finale and fought guys like Je, Justin Edwards and James Vick. The only notable TUF fighter that Chiesa beat was Vick (and it was a good win). Bottom line, they are similar in record, path (both TUF winners), the way they dominate fights and how big/lanky they are for the division. Like I said earlier, Chiesa enjoys a size/reach advantage in the LW division but there are a couple of fighters that he won't have a sizable advantage against. Those being Ferguson and Nate Diaz (Diaz would tool Chiesa harder than he would Ferguson, btw). And no one is underrating "Maverick" at all. If you've read through this thread, it's split about 60/40 as it should be.
You say 60/40 yet Tony is a -300 favourite. The only notable TUF fighter that Chiesa beat was Vick (and it was a good win). The others were your typical TUF scrubs that don't hack it on the big stage. Where are they now? TUF has a way of making guys like that white dude who was in Silva's sparring camp look like world-beaters amongst the non-anointed, but the real deal octagon has a way of filtering them out quickly thru trial by fire. Besides Vick, the other 7 fighters they fought combined are clinical scrubs. Better fighters than you or I, but they couldn't cut it in the UFC. Their biggest accomplishments will be making it thru the TUF audition, moving into the mansion, training with some real pro fighters, losing against the real deal fighters (Chiesa/Ferguson) and having the honor of getting their fecal matter pushed in at the UFC level.Chiesa went 4-0 on TUF not including the finale and fought guys like Je, Justin Edwards and James Vick.
And? That's close to what a 60/40 fight (or 65/35, in your words) will get you. That's Vegas. They also have Nate Diaz as a decent underdog even though he finished McTapper in 2nd rounds off 10-days notice and will now have full preparation. Sometimes Vegas plays games to get the action they want. This isn't like a -1,200 Rousey/Holme opening betting line here, so no need for poor-mouthing.You say 60/40 yet Tony is a -300 favourite.
What kind of match up is this? Ferguson would destroy this dude? Any reason why this fight was even made?
Was this a gift from the UFC?
