From this past weekend, Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Smith Jr. Fencing is just so much safer than a ring.
Fencing involves swords tho
Man. That was so hard to watch. Really thought bhop had one last performance in him
Yeah overall you are probably correct although in the cage you have the risk of getting feet and ankles trapped under it like Ellenberger & Pat Barry did.
Conor finishes Alvarez by KO'ing him right over the top rope. That is what we miss with the fence.
Unless splashes/elbows off the top are legalized, the cage has outlived it's necessity in combat sports. Seriously, is this a legit sport or a damned Michael Jai White movie?
Doug and bugs reports that I'm pretty sure there was a ring man on one of the mega man games.
Ring + ground fighting = frequent stoppages by ref to re-start in middle.
Ring + MMA = pointless.
The ring is not practical considering falling out, entanglements, restarts, staff pushing the ropes together, etc.
FUCK PRACTICALITY!!!! WE WANT ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!
P.S. - Open mats best IMO.
Hopkins must be pushing 60, bad fall for a man his age
I used to watch Joe Smith fight here on Long Island to crowds of less than 200 people. First he scores probably the biggest upset KO of the year, and now he just destroyed poor B-Hop. Pretty insane.
Also to many Refs, a Ring is an easy way to have someone killed.
I'm sure this ref was paid to kill off Holly
That ref is a sadist.
rings suck 4 mma
Rings just look so much better than the cage.
Too bad they don't function as well.
Even Steve Mazagatti is shaking his head there.
