Finishing your career with two straight loses, one where you were undoubtedly embarrassed and another where you left stretchered out screaming, would haunt any normal person.

From the moment this fight was announced, this had all the feelings of a way to get in the cage against someone who presented nearly no challenges (not a big puncher, reach/height disadvantage, coming up in weight after two years off, no wrestling to speak of, etc. etc.) while still being an "interesting" match up and maybe go out with a splash.

Watching Anderson content to pick his shots, push Diaz back and reset, just feels like he was looking to pick up the W and not put himself in a position to get popped.

Given his name value and UFC "greatest ever" rhetoric, there isn't a whole lot of fights that would make sense where he wouldn't be taking a huge risk. Belfort, Souza, Romero, Machida, Rockhold...

Anyone else feeling the same?

It won't be his last fight. This fight will have served to renew his confidence and he'll come back more confident for the next one. His wife and kids wanted him to retire already. He won't just come back for 1 and then say "ok, now I'm retired."

I hope he retires.

I thought he looked VERY hesitant tonight and he was in with a guy who is considerably less likely to KO him than the type of guys he could face going forward.

Anderson hasn't gotten out of the 2nd round with Weidman and I saw no reason to think that would change moving forward. Anderson is getting older, it is just a simple fact, but age is not a fighter's friend and Weidman is young and in his prime and Silva is turning 40.

Time to ride off into the sunset.

As much as I want to see him destroy one more MW, I wouldn't mind seeing him retire after that fight.

The thought of a third Weidman fight is really not appealing, I hadn't really considered that they might actually throw him in there again.
