Let me give you a little background info about myself i have been training jiu jitsu for 4 and a half months im 15 years old and im doing this for fun and maybe to get some amature mma fights when i turn 18 but well anyways i started Taking MT and Jeet kune do classes at my jiu jitsu school my question is lately when ive been sparring I feel uneasy sparring above 50 percent basically kicking or punching someone. Did anyone else get this feeling i didnt have a problem before i started bjj cuz at bjj im all about flow and being nice to my opponent. I have a tendency not to punch through my target and i often just feed my punches into his parrys or blocks to be countered. Hopefully i can get over this

when you spar i dont think youre supposed to be going 100% trying to hurt your sparring partner, a lot of sparring clips u can find of mma fighters they arent fighting at full power

but also dont let that prevent u from learning its ok to be a little aggressive but not to a point where its disrespectful to the other guy

try to concentrate on your technique and what you need to improve, not hitting them hard

yeah if you arent taking the sparring session serious, then its a disservice to both you AND your partner. people dont take muay thai to NOT get hit, just keep it respectful and obviously dont try to KTFO the dude.

but its all about getting better

Have patience and keep drilling. It will come to you. You'll learn from mistakes.

The Golden Rule of fighting: you've got to lose to know how to win.

It's all about persistence. The fact that you recognize your mistakes is important. Ask your opponent what you should've done.

You'll get used to it. I train a 17 year old guy in MMA and he was timid at first as well. But mostly because he was a wrestler and not used to striking. I think you need to get comfertable with yourself first. Do a lot of bag work and work on the focus mitts. You'll get a better idea of how to spar. As in moving your hands as fast as you can but still not KOing the guy. I always use headgear, this helps too. But just pull your strikes. Right before you make contact start pulling the leg/arm back to you so it lightens the impact. But bring your hand/leg back asap to avoid counters. Don't be upset about being countered, half of the good comes from learning defense and how not to get countered. So I think the answer to your question is just keep learning defense and keep practicing. Things will work themselves out.
