What are the rules to combat sambo?
Beat the shit out of your opponent - smash 'em, pin 'em then sub 'em.

Actually I dunno. I think to start you can strike & kick + takedown (like MT+Judo) then once on the ground you can pin & sub (except for chokes, but leg/arm subs are allowed AFAIK).

In the vid fedor pins for 20 seconds, then goes to KOB + GnP then subs with a kimura or something.

Yeah, this is good shit judogido. Thanks.
Weird gi's though. ANd I don't think this is a "typical" sambo rules tournament. Seems like a special rules deal with the strikes and all.
But yeah, looks like Judo + Muay Thai to me.
He's got a damn nice Sasae Tsuri KomI Ashi, eh Judogido?

Yeah - very nice.

Dont know what the deal is with tyhe 2nd fight, though. Notice he got the pin, the clock counted up to 20s in the background & then he went for KOB & GnP - then switched to the armlock for the submission? Dont understand that bit but I'm sure it is some rule related question.

Fedor really dominates, even more than in Pride.

It's fun to see him use strikes while competing in Sambo (combat sambo).
I keep pictureing him in Pride and he moves his hands the same way he does when he fights MMA. Though Combat Sambo sort is MMA aswell. But anyways, I can't see how anyone could ever beat him when there is strikes involved. It's not like in Pride where we have Crocop etc. These are Sambo dudes. Not world class MMA fighters. No wonder he dominates the guys winning 12-0.

Combat sambo rules are pretty much judo rules with striking permitted. Slight diference I think is that their rules state that if you do not advance position within 20 seconds the fight is stood back up as opposed to limiting the ground grappling to that amount of time alone.

those were some NICE throws/takdowns
that vally drop was sweet. he almost got a uchi mata in there.

wouldn't you crap your pants if fedor was across from you in there?
even had his pride gloves on. They probly still have nogs blood on them.

from what I can tell

2 points for the takedown
2 points for a pin
4 points for a 20 second hold down

There is a big difference between sport sambo and combat sambo. Sport sambo is very similar to judo and does not include strikes. Combat sambo, as you can see from the video, includes strikes.

You mean why he didn't win the fight by pin? A pin in SAMBO only gives you a few points, it doesn't finish the fight. You have to get the sub or a perfect throw to finish the fight before full time. I'm guessing they have similar rules in combat SAMBO.

Yeah I figured it'd be something like this. He had the pin & held it for 20 for the maximum points then went for the submission.

yea SAMBO has some crazy rules when i used to train it my couch would teach us this one type of match they have where you can tag in a partner..........great vid by the way thanks
