If the UFC was ever to get Fedor to come to the UFC at his age they'd know he probably wouldn't be fighting for years. They'd want to maximize his profile. Same with Lesnar.

They have 2 marketable fighters in Lesnar and Fedor, it'd be a waste to have them fight each other in their first fight. They could both fighters fight someone like Struve whom they are supposed to beat and then have a number 1 contender match later on down the road after another fight or right after that.

Also, this fight is being announced late. It would have been better to have this fight announced a long time ago at the same time as the other UFC 200 fights to get maximum exposure.

So, I don't think Lesnar vs. Fedor is the fight the UFC would want for UFC 200. Who thinks that it would be bad business for the UFC to have Fedor vs. Lesnar and that Lesnar's opponent isn't going to be Fedor.

I think it will be someone else.

This fight has been talked about for ages and is very easily marketable in spite of the fact that its coming years late. But if not Fedor then who? What fight would be bigger?

Since when has UFC been interested with "the long game" vs immediate money?

That's part of the point, immediate money would be announcing and promoting Fedor vs. Lesnar as soon as possible and when they announced the other UFC 200 fights and get maximum media coverage.

Anyone who really believes this has no idea how much money there is to be made in this fight.

Hint: it's a LOT.

Like I said, they could have them each fight someone they are expected to beat and then fight each other for a number 1 contendership.

He's contracted for 1 fight only, WWE have him still so it makes PERFECT SENSE. 1 off fight, huge draw.

Or, you know, the two old heavyweights lose their "gimme fight" and then you make nothing (relative to the potential for Fedor vs Brock).

You make the fight when the money's there. They've let it go for too long already, now they'll cash in (especially if the sale rumors are true) and take what they can get.

You cant announce a fight until its signed so were they just supposed to wait until today to announce anything for UFC 200 in the hopes that they got Brock and Fedor signed?

I also read that Fedor backed out because his father died.

Give them both a squash match to build hype for future PPV, but you have to make sure opponents are totally beatable.
