Well, maybe 1 out of 10 Federal employees might be ok with it on principal grounds, but he'd certainly be lying if he's implying that most federal employees are ok with shutdown because they back him.

Trump seems to want to punish demographics that dislike him. Just today he said he'd withhold Fema aid from California in the event of more wildfires, I'm 90% sure he's only threatening that because most of California votes against him.

When you have real jobs and run real businesses being laid off or going out of business is always a possibility. They'll be ok...bootstraps and all that.

That's a dumb way to look at it, on top of that the shutdown was caused by a stupid avoidable reason not by economic reasons. Most of this country is living paycheck to paycheck, and lot of federal employees have important jobs that keep our country running.

Trump wouldn't know anything about financial uncertainty, seeing as he was born with a silver spoon up his ass.

Well, this is the third (fourth?) time I've faced sequestration due to a government shut down in the 12 years I've had this job. And in the years there wasn't a shutdown, it has frequently come down to the last minute. Honestly, I took the federal position over similar offers for the stability. I am fairly certain my fellow sherbro family men would take the option if available. But I found my paycheck is frequently politicized and begrudged me by civilians of all political parties.

Another fun fact: my wife is not a federal employee. She operates her own business. So as a family, we are very much subject to the uncertainty the economy inflicts on everyone. Good months and slow months...rent still has to be paid on the studio. Federal Employees are your neighbors and are really the shmucks next to you at the grocery and kids soccer practice, not conniving evil-doers deep stating for their political party or covering up aliens (at least not my department....aliens would be cool)

Federal employees who donated to presidential campaigns in 2016 lean more heavily democratic. I don’t think the numbers are large enough to tell anything about the overall composition of the federal government by party, much less those impacted by the shutdown. Interesting how little trump got though.
