Good fight. Hope it happens.
Vargas via size
Mikey is with DAZN now? If so, lots of fights to be made at 140.
Wish he would move down and try to be more active.... he could clean out 140 or 135 if he could still make 135.
Always been annoying to be a fan of his for inactivity
Did that just happen? I wasn't aware
Meh at Mikey at 147.
Vargas is the fight you take to get a feeling for 147. Fighting Errol first was pure folly.
making it the full 12 with errol is a good sign too though even if he didn’t do anything the whole fight. he showed he can survive in there with a big powerful natural welterweight. vargas is a blown up 140 with below average power. mikey should be able to really let go with combinations on vargas.
Glad to see Mikey stay at 147. That is where the best fighters are and glad to see him take them on. Danny and Keef next please
Pretty good fight. Vargas is a physical fighter so his size might play a role. Should be competitive.
Not that I would expect it right away but Mikey vs Josh Taylor could be huge.
I like it. But kind of with Seano on Mikey at 147. Why not 140?
Still wish we'd have seen Mikey/Loma. What a fight that would have been at 135/140.
This won't be easy for Garcia.
Vargas, being the bigger man, could make this one very messy.
A lot of people give Garcia shit but i can't imagine Cowboy Bob Arum being too pumped to test his golden goose against a guy who just left top rank for pbc...Lomachenko already has a loss
I'm just speaking of a great fight between two great fighters that (IMO) we missed out on because Mikey kind of ducked it.
And everybody takes a L. No shame in a loss to Loma at that point or any. And, if he could have won that fight, he would have been king.
Maybe I just dont know about what happend behind the curtains but if Mikey had the option to fight both and chose Spence, it just doesnt make sense at all to me.
And like PHATV said, he would have been undisputed #1 in boxing at that time.
But maybe I am just salty because it didnt happen and it was a great move after all...or politics...
Edit: Of course it only doesnt make sense if Mikey thinks he can beat Loma
I imagine there was more money attached to a fight against Spence than Loma. More money plus a belief he could escape the Spence fight relatively unscathed probably decided it for him. It’s a business in the end.
