Again highlighting again how good 87 was with Robocop, I really need to rewatch the original Hellraiser, haven't seen it it probably 15 years or more.

Honestly I tend to think that 77-87 was really the peak of the action blockbuster, we did have some quality films after that point of course but they were often sequels going over similar ground. You look at Indy for example and I think Temple of Doom brings a lot more that's original to the film were as Last Crusade looks back heavily to Raiders.

This is hard, I need to look at lists for each year to see what came out. Also, for the last fifteen years or so I’ve only seen about one to three movies per year, so there’s that caveat with my list.

-1985: Back to the Future
-1986: Aliens

2014: Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes/The Drop(tie)
2015: Creed
2016: Star Wars Rogue One
2017: Bladerunner 2049
2018: Nothing looks good to me maybe Creed II or Predator but haven't seen them yet, my god movies really started to suck once you got into the 2000's-2010's, it's incredible the decline.

Again it does actually end up being harder work for the less obvious years, I mean putting say Blade Runner down for 82 wasn't very difficult but 83 needed a lot of thought and a rewatch of Rumblefish to pick that.

You could argue this kind of thing works better for film than music as well, I mean whilst I could list favoured albums post early 00's I really haven't been following the music scene that closely since then. Cinema on the other hand will be something most people will still follow to some degree at until perhaps they get into old age.

You don't follow Marvel movies?

You don't follow Marvel movies?

Although actually I think Marvel movies good enough to get close to my list would really start from 2014 onwards, WInter Solider and Guardians might well have in other years, Civil War wasnt that far off and Infinity War is the best of my(admidily very limited) viewing this year.

In Apocalyto's favour I'm not exactly Gibsons biggest fan and the ending is pretty dodgy message wise(these evil bastard deserved to be wiped out by Christendom! let the noble godless savage escape to be coverted) but you can't ignore how good the film is, especially the Temple scene would probably go down as one of the best of the decade.

Supprised really Birth hasn't gotten more hype off of Under the Skin, I mean you could argue its rather a shameless revisiting of Eyes Wide Shut from a Kurbick fan but I actually think it works better. More tightly focused on Kidman's character who I think had more depth to here in both films and actually visually more interesting as well, the opening obviously but the closeups are really well done to like that long take of Kidman at the opera and the way he often has characters eyes in shadow giving them a deaths head look.

That was hard because there were a handful of monster years (1991, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2017) where I could have easily picked three to five different movies as my number one but there was also a few years (1992, 2011 bleh, 2015) where it was difficult to find even one movie I liked. I've also seen very few movies since 2013.
