Now we all know the U.S. School system pretty much gives its children a bunch of crap to eat, but there were a few diamonds in the rough. What were your go to eats at school? Something you would trade two days worth of whatever for? Those not from the States, please feel free to showcase your country of origin's tasty bittles!

Here is mine. I would destroy these everyday, if I could. I had actually gotten a teacher to smuggle me some before they stopped having the same packaging as my elementary school had. I'm a sucker for nostalgia

These were the bomb diggity as a kid:

I still buy one as a snack for work every now and then.

My elementary school had excellent meatball spaghetti.french bagel pizza and mac n cheese with steak fried chicken, a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy .the gravy had ground meat.

My middle school had prison food and terrible microwave taco bell burritos. Fruitopia was my only joy.

Sloppy joes with chocolate milk. I brought my own though.Bologna Sandwich with a Capri Sun. Also Kraft Cheese spread. Gushers. Fruit By The Foot.

You all got lunchables from your school??? Ballin!
Oh, no not from school. I misread your OP as just food you'd eat at lunch. The first school I went to didn't have a cafeteria where we could buy food, and the second didn't get one until maybe grade 9 or so.

I got my lunches from home. Still... Getting Lunchables was like opening a Christmas present when I got them.

Rarely ate anything from the school. Think I occasionally had hash brown patties and I remember chocolate milk. That's literally the only things I remember, other than that all the desserts were non-sugar.

My school food, in hindsight, was obviously terrible but when you pretty much grow up having to eat that stuff come lunchtime, you get used to it. The hamburgers were awful but when they had a chicken patty instead of a beef patty, I was all for it. The pizza was also pretty good.

I'd love the occasions we got these with our lunch (if it wasn't these, it was something similar):

Thinking back, the lunchables pizza is what pizza is BEFORE you put it into the oven to cook lol that's ghetto

Sack lunch for the win! Sweet as fuck PB&J some Lays and an orange! Keep your square pizza, sack lunch was the balls!

Mashed potatoes w/ yellow gravy and chunks of turkey. Chocolate milk.

Mine would have been cold banquet dinners. I agree though. I was envious of those who brought their own.

I liked our schools pizza, chili, grilled cheese and biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast.

One time during elementary school, I ate tacos for lunch and they tasted off. I threw up later that day.

I was usually too full from eating paste and chips of lead based paint off the class wall to eat lunch.

My high school had a roast beef lunch that was a slice of roast, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and peas, covered in brown gravy.

I remember years later going to The Telegraph House in Nova Scotia. I ordered the roast beef and it looked exactly the same.

I was not impressed.

It was all disgusting garbage. I wouldn't touch it. I tried everything they made in that cafeteria once and I never ordered anything a second time.

I would spend a little more to eat at McDonalds every lunch because it bore a closer resemblance to actual food.

Marshmallow flush, peanut butter and Nutella sandwich.

Because when you're young, you don't give a fuck about becoming a diabetic fatass with all of your teeth rotting out.

EDIT: Oh, you said it had to come from school? Shit I don't know, pizza and lasagna was good. I can barely remember that far back.
