Who are your favorite fighters who were in the spotlight and looked like they would be a force for a brief period of time, but then ended up never achieving much in their careers? For example, Travis Browne Pride who KOed Gonzaga, Barnett and Overeem and was ranked as high as top 3 only to fall off horribly after that.

Is this where Mcgregor fits in?

On a more serious note- Albert Tumenov.

Carwin became Interim champ only two years into his UFC career and never won again.

Melvin Guillard.

Einstein is a good call, another in the WW division was Thatch who was so hyped he was a 2-1 favorite over Bendo and then disappeared.

Thiago Alves after he KO’d Hughes and beat Kos, then GSP beat the breaks off of him and he’s been incosistent and inactive ever since.

Melvin Guillard had that dope streak in 2010-2011

Jake Ellenberger after he KO’d Shields I thought he would be fighting for the belt at some point.

Shane Carwin was fun while he lasted.

Sokoudjou. Definitely Sokoudjou.

I like soko- had some monster ko s over some of the greats and still stuck around and good enough to have decent sforce/UFC career..

Attention- bias comment incoming- as a Mousasi supporter, that was a fight where all momentum was switched off Gegard's beautiful ankle pic sweep off his back to the very big and standing Sokodjou as in a matter of seconds. Gegard was on top of Soko and raining down hell as REF made his move. .... but beautiful none the less

Alves, Ellenberger and Melvin all never lived up to the hype, but I wouldn't call them flash in the pans. They had pretty long careers in the UFC.

When I think flash in the pans, I think Josh Grispi, Steve Cantwell, and Brandon Thatch, ect

Not really a flash in the pan but I was hoping Diego Nunes would have done better.
