Will Hunting (Matt Damon) has a genius-level IQ but chooses to work as a janitor at MIT. When he solves a difficult graduate-level math problem, his talents are discovered by Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard), who decides to help the misguided youth reach his potential. When Will is arrested for attacking a police officer, Professor Lambeau makes a deal to get leniency for him if he will get treatment from therapist Sean Maguire (Robin Williams).

Politicians are temporary. AS GOOD AS IT GETS is forever.

Off that list I'd say Con Air or Face Off
Despite those two very fine films, wow this was a very mature year of film. Lots of surprising substance.

Cocaine, for example...

Lots of great movies, but Good Will Hunting easily.

Sling blade is so good that it's the best film of 1996 AND 1997

LA Confidential and not even close,1997 seem pretty bad year for 90`s standards

It's a great movie.
I remember the theater was so overcome with emotion that when the doomed quartet began to play "Nearer My God to Thee" someone in the audience started singing along.

And there's this awkward duration where you could palpably feel the rest of the audience withdraw emotionally, shuffle in their seats uncomfortably wondering whether it was okay to interrupt ANYONE singing that song, and then finally one person sniffly said, "Could you not sing?"

I miss going to the movies.

Good Will Hunting is the only one that would grace my top 100

Jackie Brown and Boogie Nights for me. Saw them both in the theater.

Senior year of high school. Fuck I'm getting old.

What's the bottom 90?
I never got that far, I know 1 to 3 and then Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society but the rest is a mystery

It's just that I'm old school like that, roll that rap over soul loops like that
