Gained 20-30lbs using NOxplode, another 5-10lbs on my honeymoon.

if i lose fat and dont necessarily lose weight will i regain my speed? my doctor tells me i am 40-45 lbs over weight even though my body compositon is between 16-18% fat. she said even if i was 8-9% fat i would still be risking injury by being so many lbs overweight.

is she incorrect?

i cant play the sport i love as well as i did even 3 months ago and i believe the added weight is the problem.

i just strated the s&p faq 5x5 i am doing the DNS faq protein, fish oil, and greens.

i will read the conditioning faqs in a moment. was just wondering if i lose fat and dont lose weight if it is possible to regain the speed?

Find a male doctor.

What is her basis of comparison for you being overweight? The average human being? The average athlete? The average office worker? Assume you got down to the 8-9% bodyfat she spoke of. What would her suggestion from there be? Lose muscle? Cut off an arm?

The world is made up of all different shapes and sizes. I hate throwing out fighter comparisons, but look at Nate Diaz or look at Fedor. Is Nate Diaz underweight by doctors standards? Probably. Is Fedor overweight by doctors standards? Probably. Are they healthier and in better shape than the doctors saying they aren't? I'll bet my life savings on it.

The best way to look at things is from a performance level, not a body composition level. You are doing the 5 x 5, so you are getting stronger. If you want to work on speed, I'm sure there are a ton of people in here that can help specifically. Speed exercises is NOT something I am the best at, but I'd suggest timed runs, sprints, burpees, etc.

My point is that if your strength and conditioning improve while you watch your diet, you'll definitely be in better shape and your body composition will improve. Focus on clean eating and performance, and you are bound to improve.

P.S. The cause of you becoming slower is not the added weight. The added weight is the result of laziness/bad eating which also caused you to slow down.

No, but you're also "risking injury" when you walk across the fucking street or use toilet bowl cleaner.

Fucking doctors.

According to the BMI I'm obese. Yet I'm still faster than some friends that are considered "ideal" on the BMI and are about 60lbs lighter than me.

Less weight might not be the answer. Being less of a pussy and getting into shape will be.

As others have mentioned your doctor is probably using things like the BMI which isn't appropriate as it doesn't really take into account muscle mass. For instance, Randy Couture would be over weight according to BMI ratings which is obviously stupid as Randy Couture is a great athlete. So don't worry about what they say. If you are training hard and eating well then you should find a natural weight that you are suited too.

2 months?

Gaining 5-10lbs in a typical 1-2 week honeymoon would be 18,000-36,000 excess calories. How the heck can that happen on a 1-2 week honeymoon?

It's probably not as hard as it sounds. I put on about 7lbs of weight over a two week holiday last year. It was partly/mainly because I had two weeks of sitting by a pool drinking beer all day. Each 1lb is 3500 cals?, is that right?, if so, then 7lbs would total 24500 cals which over 14 days is 1750 per day. When you take all the beer, ice cream, food, lazy-iness into account then it's very realistic and easy to gain that much weight.

One other thing I'd say about myself though is that I'd been training really hard in the month before I went away and my weight was a bit lower than it typically would be so maybe my body regained the weight slightly faster because of that.

i actually put on about 12 lbs and lost 7 of them. so there is still hope. i am not extremely gifted, but 3 short months ago is was running 4.8 40 yard dashes and my agility to turn run and jump for a pass were way better.

i feel slow my hips feel stiff and i feel all around sluggish. i dont know maybe it was because i was sore or tired from the 5x5s but i definately did not feel like myself on sunday.

any time i have taken anything with creatine in it i blow up with an immediated 10-15 lbs (this is 3 times already in my life) maybe i eat more when i take it, i dont know.

but the honeyymoon... i was eating like 6 times a day triple servings. i mean in 3 months i went from 165- 190 that cant be healthy..

Wait wait wait....so you're still under 200lbs? Under 200lbs and you consider yourself fat and slow? What, are you 5' 2"?

I think he's like 5'5". I saw it on his log.

As I said, I'm guessing you feel slow because of those 3 months of heavy eating and laziness. Eat clean, work on your strength and conditioning and everything will fall into place. You also may be a bit sore and tired from the 5x5. From what I remember, you just started really lifting heavy again so it is taxing on your body at first.

Give it some time. Until then, read the FAQ in here. Work on sprints, LSD, burpees, etc. You'll lose the unwanted weight, but more importantly, you'll be better conditioned, faster, and stronger.

Also, in the long run, gaining weight isn't always bad. It's bad when the weight is from multiple trips to the buffet and laying around on your honeymoon.

How is the NO xplode working out?

Are you wanting to throw it up? Have you seen results? (other than it making you slower and heavier)
