Yesterday an incident got me thinking: For someone who has spent some time lifting, there are some problems when buying suits, shirts, pants off the rack. Pants fitting around the waist are too short and too small around the waist, shirts fitting around the shoulders are too loose around the waist, etc.

Apart from tailor-made or -modified clothes, which are the brands producing clothes for more athletic/muscular people? I believe I'm not the only one to have this problem.

The only company coming to my mind is Olymp. I got a few dress shirts on the recommendation of a friend of mine, because he and most of his colleagues (police officers, germany) wear them, and I absolutely love them.

This is why I wear sweats and basketball shorts 90% of the time haha. If I'm going out somewhere where I need to look decent I have two pairs of custom tailored jeans. They weren't cheap but they are super comfy.

At 5'10, 250ish, I honestly don't have much of an issue. It might take some looking, but I can always eventually find a shirt that fits and looks good.

As for jeans/shorts. I always have to wear a belt because I have to buy a waist size 2 or 3 sizes bigger than I actually need so they fit my quads and ass. Again, this isn't a firm rule, so I usually just try shit on until I find something that works.

Locally, I've basically figured out which stores I can and cannot shop at.

People make a really big deal about it, but if I can find clothes that look okay off the rack, I feel like most people should be able to.

100% agreeing with JimRussel here. Unless your a bodybuilder, finding clothes shouldnt be that hard.
I always buy jeans with some stretch in them. Most brands got those now. If you need a suit or some really nice clothes, then you might consider a tailor.

Thanks for the replies.

The thread came from the situation that I bought a suit, had it adjusted by a tailor and thought that there might be a way to limit unnecessary trial-and-error or fitting by having a bunch of brands at hand that are closer to form. Not that it's impossible to find anything that fits, it's just the lazy desire of a shortcut.

levis has some "athletic fit" jeans with some stretch to them. super comfy

I second the levis athletic fit suggestion, I bought a few pairs and now they are the only jeans I wear.

Levi athletic fit are slightly bigger than skinny jeans. I find that Khul "full fit" pants first well. Bulletprufe Denim too.

Terrible advice in this thread. Obviously, the only answer is to wear a Shalwar Kameez.

Super-comfy, cool in the summer, promote cultural understanding *and* experience the thrill of being thrown off planes, or tazered and wrestled to the ground by police, on suspicion of being a Muslim.

You're a big boy.

For me, being tall(ish) at 188cm I find it tough to find pants that fit. My arse and upper thighs have grown considerably over the last few years but my legs are still on the skinny side. I usually buy them a little bigger in the waist to accommodate teh ass.

As for shirts, especially tshirts I find it tough because I'm between L and XL. I had the same issues when I first started lifting because I was M and then when to L. There was an inbetween where I was more of an extra medium.

Bromosexuals ITT.

Look into Lucky jeans. They have a couple styles that'll fit perfect. Loose without being baggy.

I've got the same problem, have to buy larger waist size to fit over quads. And there's no way in hell I'm ever going to wear skinny or stretch jeans.

Guess has two or three non-skinny styles that work too. But I'm so happy with Lucky that I just order directly off their site now if I can't find the cuts I want in store.

its time to accept that your legs can no longer be contained by pants. Ranger panties 24/7 crew~

5'11 300lbs here, 2xl shirts off the rack fit fine. I may go to Destination XL if I want something really nice but usually anything from Kohls fits. Pants I have to buy up a size or 2 or else I won't get them passed my quads.

My biggest problem is underwear. Between chaffing and squatting, every pair I own is shredded in the taint area :-(
