Farewell Thunder

The UFC goes so far as to punish Big Ben when the Athletic Commissions refuse to. I think the UFC is doing a great job. MMA needs the UFC. The UFC does not need Okami.

The UFC sure doesn't care much about credibility either, which is the issue here. Cutting top fighters is pushing UFC more into show than actual competition, which can only be a bad thing for MMA as far as I'm concerned. And since UFC is so dominant whatever they do will directly impact how people see MMA in general in a big way.

Yushin Okami might not have lit the world on fire with his fighting style, but did he deserve to be cut? Everyone has their opinion if it was just or not. Unlike Jon Fitch, Okami seemed like a company man. He

cutting a top 10 ranked fighter in the division is just bs. UFC is getting rediculous, then again, no surprise..its heading towards WWE/entertainment route, away from legit sports league/org.

To look at the UFCs credibility you just have to look at their fighters. They are the best fighter's in the world. Someone ranked 6 isn't the best in the world.

Come on stop pretending you don't see something this obvious. UFC have tons of guys nowhere near Okami's ranking that are still in the UFC that are actually on a several match losing streak. Some of them are even paid way more than Okami. But UFC keep them around because they're brawlers that cater to the Just Bleed crowd. But Okami though had to be cut to make room for new fighters? That's just BS if you're trying to look like a true sport organisation and a terrible decision in the long run.

Because anyone interested in real fighting and credible sports have left sherdog?

Or...

Because well all be talking about how the fucker just cut phil davis?

No thanks.

He changed the game. It might stop being all about Okami, but thats not something you can paint over.

I wouldn't have cut Okami, but at the same time it's no big loss either

Okami's pay was likely more than he brought in. He is also a nightmare (business wise) who can knock off any up and coming talent at any time. He is cursed with being "boring" (to many) and having the skill set/talent to beat ALMOST anybody.

He had a shot at Silva and lost horribly (as most do). He also fought a man (Jacare) who (on paper) he should have given a very hard time (both great grapplers). He lost in a similar fashion and showed almost no resiliency when taking damage.

If you add it all up with no emotions involved the decision makes sense. Okami will make waves (probably be champ) anywhere else he goes.

Like any other move, we'll see if this was a wise choice by the UFC.

ridiculous cut of a top 10 fighter, but not that surprising since the execs at the ufc have been making decisions with their asses instead of their heads for a while now.

gotta protect some of the other guys in the top 10, i guess, since they can't beat him.

ITT:

It's 2013 and people still fall for Balli's coarse trolling. :p
