hey guys, anyone ever heard of Tony Caravelli? he claims to be a black belt under Bob Bass, i left a message with Bob and havnt heard anything. he also claims to have trained Frank Shamrock. anyone close to bob or frank have any info? i tried to google but only came up with a small article.

I think the guys at bullshido.net could probably help you more. That is if you dont get a reply here....

i've heard enough, tell him to meet me at the fighthouse sunday at 2!

did he 100% say bjj black belt and not traditional/Japanese jiu jitsui black belt??

I find it completely useless to stir up the pot about something like this when you could have simply gone to his dojo and asked him yourself :icon_conf. You have made some pretty unfounded accusations without gathering facts.

The claim that he is a black belt in BJJ smells fishy if his club website is anything to go by, since it is not mentioned in his mini-bio. You would expect it to be a selling point for a martial arts academy!

"Master Tony Caravelli has been at the forefront of the mixed martial arts revolution training with champions in the MMA world such as the legendary Frank Shamrock. Master Caravelli has trained Police, Military personnel (from Navy Seals to Force Recon Marines), and plenty of kids — several of whom have gone on to win national and state championships in Karate competitions."

There is no reference to a jiu-jitsu black belt in this bio, either.

According to this website, he is/ was associated with New Breed Fighter. To my knowledge, there are no ties between New Breed Fighter and the New Breed Academy of Santa Fe Springs, which is entirely legitimate.

"Blue Dragon Martial Arts is a Mixed Martial Arts training center in Chula Vista, California, and offers Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Boxing instruction with New Breed Fighter trainer Master Tony Caravelli, who has been at the forefront of the mixed martial arts revolution training with champions in the MMA world such as the legendary Frank Shamrock."

Looks like this could be a case for the BJJ police, although I wasn't able find any evidence that he actually claims/ claimed to be a BJJ black belt, either.
