I think most people would be surprised at how well-prepared Kevin was for submission grappling. Most of his MMA fights are on YouTube and if you watch them he really had a solid execution of positional grappling. He would secure and advance position and only then go for the choke. People have hated on him for getting quickly subbed by Frank Shamrock but at that time Frank could've done that to just about anyone on any given night. Jerry Bohlander was no slouch either.Kevin Jackson didn’t fail because of inadequate wrestling.
He could take any MMA fighter, past or present, plant them on their ass, and keep them there.
He just wasn’t prepared with submission wrestling or BJJ.
He could probably still beat current top fighters if they didn’t have a good bottom game. Like the 39 year old Kenny Monday did to a top Pederneiras black belt at one time.
