I’m very happy to be in the UFC and with my fight purses too. I’m happy to be a company guy, Realistically, I have to be a company guy. It makes a difference – to fight and defend the company where you work.”

Werdum has since gotten his commentary job back, as he further understands the business aspect of his career. He even has no qualms with the current matchmaking trends, especially in his division.

“Without a doubt, the business side (of my MMA career) is very important. I feel like a company guy now. I understand the organization now,” Werdum said. “For example,Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier – I understand why they booked that. It’s something the fans welcome – two champions from two weight classes.”

“I’m looking forward to watching it or commentating. And if I can fight on the same card, I’ll do that too.”

Good attitude to take. If he wins Saturday. He likely gets the next shot.

Sometimes you gotta go with the Orinoco Flow.

If he beats Volkov there isn't really anyone else for the winner of Stipe/DC to fight unless DC decides to defend the LHW belt next so I'm sure he's got a shot coming

And I don't think Volkov has much for him either

Well, I'm glad he can understand why they would make a champion vs champion fight... maybe he'll start splitting atoms or curing cancer after his next fight.

He’s a family man. To be anything other than loyal to the company that’s funding your life would be insane.

Finally, he has learned the American way. Don't fight the cooperation, you will get sodomized anyways. So, why not use some lube (company guy)? LOL

its not like hes beaten a top contender to get a shot either. he got to fight walt harris on short notice and then he lost to reem, and then beat tybura by decision in a boring fight. reem before losing to ngannou had a better claim for a title shot

Hespect.

Rare to hear a fighter who’s not complaining

I suspect a lot of that has to do with the fact Werdum earns a nice paycheck compared to 99% of fighters and does so beating people way below his level

Pretend you enjoy it and your attacker will not penetrate as hard. Corporate self defense 101

Dana didn't see him as a company guy when he released him in 2008 with a 2-2 record off a KO from Dos Santos.

he is just doing what he has to do but must suck a little bit.

Tough guy with a boomerang. Puss with a boardroom.
