Just wondering who you guys figure would win this hypothetical in their primes and why?

In the past few months iv`e been doing all I can to learn of all the great fighters from the past. These are two natural light heavyweights who moved up to win at Heavyweight. To me they were both absolutely brilliant.

No offense to the poster but can we create a subdirectory for imaginary match ups. It clutters up the current topics

Both Great fighters. In a fight, I would lean towards Charles to out will and works Patterson. Patterson wouldnt have the power to hurt Charles, so he would have to work to outbox Charles, which can be done, but not really with the peek-a-boo style of Floyd's. I think Charles would win out a close Dec.

Great matchup.

Floyd certainly has the ability to beat Charles and possibly even knock him out. At the same time, Charles is a much more slicker and cerebral fighter than Patterson.

If I had to choose, I'd lean towards Charles via UD.

I'd go with Charles as well. He was as fast as Patterson, and a better boxer.. Patterson owes a lot of his success to his speed advantage..which he would not have vs. Charles
