Elections Extremely out of touch Sen. Joni Ernst gives sarcastic remark about people dying, then doubles down apology by mentioning the Tooth Fairy

I have no issue with her giving unserious responses to people planted to disrupt her town halls to create a false narrative of red state revolt agains One Big Beautiful Bill

And I have no problem giving another unserious response to the fake outrages

Also, no lies detected. Sleep comes for everyone
Of course you don't. We all know why.

“People are going to die” over a spending bill is hysterical nonsense from an obvious plant. It doesn’t deserve a serious response

This is pretty much where I'm at. Who's youngest and who's not in office thats whos getting my vote unless someone i actually do like comes along. Maybe we can cycle them so fast they can't get entrenched and play games and the only way they can stay in office for a few terms is to actually do something that noticeably improves the average voters lives ....then start the cycle again just to be safe.

I have nothing but contempt for these clowns. And I mean all of them. Watching these geriatrics enrich themselves all the while displaying no statecraft and horse trading abilities what so ever while they alternate blaming the other party and hem and haw about we tried but it's like so hard man or they hot dog and grand stand doin soundbites for cameras.

Our entire system is broken and what sort of worries me is that the power is so imbalanced that there is probably only one way to fix it. And it's bad.

Being an American right now is a wild experience where it just feels like being in free fall and watching the ground rush at you going terminal velocity with no cord to pull. We're gonna go fuckin splat without a miracle from God probably.

I meant it America is over and In my previous post I mentioned the exact moment when we crossed over. Occupy might have been the last chance to change course but they didn't get anywhere close to as wild (as the taliban) as they needed to get and then completely went retard when they got poisoned by intersectionality. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that word and the woke shit that followed was a Cia plot to destroy any notion of there ever being any class solidarity

Mother fuckers act like the richest most powerful people like to just leave things to chance and shit is random or when they do halfway catch a smell of what's cooking they go into some wild shit about jews and interdimentional child molesters and ignore the obvious. It's your congressmen your senator yea the guys with whatever letter you like next to their names the banks and the big businesses that need a favor..

I share your malaise, as I've said before, America is a corpse being eaten by maggots where the right is cheering for the corpse, and the left is cheering for the maggots. But I feel like that can truly be extended to most of the western world right now.

Interesting point on the young people. I'm actually terribly worried about folks who grew up in the internet era taking political power. I mean, we have a turbo-narcissist president, which ironically is representative of the world the Left has wanted to create by upturning Christian type ethics in favor of outright boisterous greed, envy, lust etc, bragging about not feeling guilt as that's something for Catholics etc. The celebrity left has been plugging it's nose at "flyover mothers" of women who enjoy the gifts of raising kids in nuclear families.

If societal virtue and empathy is going to be replaced by individual "manifestations", "vibes" and "narcissism"; of course there is reason to be gravely concerned, and that's what gives rise to what I wrote in the opening paragraph.

To your point, Occupy actually had some momentum, but miraculously that seemed to disappear when every corporation under the sun went nuts with DEI, and George Floyd getting killed had Icelandic people in Iceland protesting somehow -- probably the most remarkable social media virality taht reminded me (for those old enough to remember) the KONY in Uganda story where kids all of a sudden felt you were a bad person if you didn't want to rescue Ugandans from Kony (even though Kony wasn't even in the country any more IIRC).

The tech revolution may, much like the industrial and agricultural ones really require an adjustment period after a period of great harm.

Anyhow, I'm rambling but I say all of the above not as a religious type (I'm atheist), but would still suggest being cautious with optimism around the ideas that current leaders are "too old" and that young folks are going to be better -- as they seem to have adopted some real weird values and attitudes that folks for ages have known do not end well. I think a lot of young people right now are really trying out "new ideas" that are beyond stupid and the streetcar is on tracks where it's highly unlikely truly brilliant young minds are going to be the cream that rises, it's much more likely people that can appeal to folks with the attention span of goldfish by peddling stupid shit.

7 posts before a politician making a snarky remark segued to "Fascism".

If history has taught us anything about fascists, it's that when shit gets bad enough, nobody is beyond reprisal.

But people should use this time as a learning experience to see just how heinous and cruel these Republicans actually are when the mask comes off, so they know never to vote for them again.

Owning the Libs > objecting to cruelty towards normal people

Do you consider a joke in poor taste to be fascist?

I consider the politician publicly ridiculing one of their constituent's real concern, that people are going to die if they lose their health insurance to be an irredeemable piece of shit unworthy of their position in government.

That is exactly what Joni Ernst is.

Thats fine, but you're dodging the point. The segue to Fascism is a ridiculous leap.

You disagree that could or will happen when you cut funding for things like health insurance for the poorest Americans, or SNAP benefits for low income people?

Congressional Budget Office analysis says that 11 million people would lose health insurance under this bill. You can’t fathom how people could go without treatment or even die due to that?

America was over when the bankers got the bonuses with the tax payer money after the bail out and the people didnt go ballistic. The elite know we aren't going to dare vote for the other party just to flush them and that we aren't going to come for them with rifles and rope and they behave and speak to us accordingly.

The way the very people who are responsible for fucking up the country speak to us when we ask them hey what the fuck is quite a thing to behold.

This is not a left or right wing supporting post.

America problem is pretending that its still 1996 and its a "both sides" issue, while there is a lot to complain about blue side its clear that the red side has taken a massive ass jump over the cliff in terms of how awful it has become.

Since everyone dies she won't mind if her government funded healthcare is revoked as well.

Great post, Chris. I think you're dead on. The corporate bailout of Wallstreet didn't excite nearly enough outrage

Occupy movement was hopeful but trailed off and has been co opted by grifters

Covid tells a similar story. Everyone is even still losing their shit about mask mandates and vaccinations, when the real story that should be sending people into the streets in protest is the fact that the richest ten people on the planet saw their wealth more than double in only 2 years. From 700 billion to 1.5 trillion. In two years. That's about a billion and a half dollars going into a group of ten already obscenely rich people's hands, every fucking day for 2 years.

People are absolute morons. We don't learn lessons, we don't think rationally. We are a bunch of self deluding assholes, and the richest among us know this perfectly well
