I am not trying to bash professional wrestling, but I can't for the life of me understand why so many people are so interested in this CM Punk guy competing in the UFC. Love him or hate him, Brock Lesnar is a physical monster and captures the imagination in the same way Kimbo, Pudz or Bob Sapp did (although he was a much more legitimate athlete than those guys). I can understand why guys would freak out about the prospect of a guy with the look and charisma of The Rock competing in MMA, even if better judgment suggested they'd get killed, but CM Punk?

I don't get it. He is a somewhat flabby middleweight who looks like he came out of the nearest trailer park. Can any of you wrestling fans explain to me how and why this guy is a star?

Cm Punk have more charisma and mic skills than anyone, inclundin The Rock, also he was x100 much better wrestler.

You're probably one of these stipid fans thant only love bodybuilders wrestler with personality.

CM Punk is nowhere near The Rock in charisma or mic skill.

    Charisma, no, mic skill, yes.

The Rock repeats himself a lot. Punk is far more versatile as a talker.

Because people want to be entertained.

The casual MMA fan would rather watch CM Punk than some no-name fighter they've never heard of (and the UFC has had plenty of those as of late).

The MMA elitists will always get upset about that, but the casual fans are paying $60 to be entertained...and CM Punk is entertainment.

He was signed by the UFC.

This has created a controversy because some people don't think he should be there.

It does matter whether or not the premier fighting organization should or should not allow celebrities and performers from other athletic venues to compete.

    There is nothing else.

Oh, and some people hate CM Punk because he worked as a Professional Wrestler. Shane Carwin was an engineer; Brett Rogers was changing tires at Walmart. Everyone who wants to compete in MMA had to come from somewhere, right?

Edit: If this were 1987, I would be begging for Bret Hart to join MMA.

Sooo... The guy that invented modern MMA says that something will be good for business, and armchair sherdoggers demand to question that decision in 1000 threads.

He's in, it's done, one thread was enough, this garbage needs to be wastlanded.

Why as MMA fans do we have to hate everything?.. I've never seen Him wrestle in my life, but I hope he comes in and smashes someone! Why not??.. Saku is/was a wrestler! Everyone should always remember that!!

And he was a star because he was great at his job. Youtube up his "Pipe Bomb" speeches, and get a taste of why.

The Rock gets way bigger pops everytime he shows up than Punk has ever got and Punk is nowhere near The Rock on the mic.

    This.

BTW OP why does your opinion matter? If UFC wants to give him a shot it's their right to do so.
