How old is your mom man? i think if i gave my mom a program with burpees in it, it wouldn't last the week. As good as HIT and complex training is, the one downfall it has for most people is that it's just too hard for them to do. While running on the eliptical isn't the best approach in most cases it's something someone who isn't into training will actually stick with for the entire duration.

    How is her diet?

You've got one hardcore mother, man. I think I'd have trouble finishing that.

How bout jumping rope? That's pretty low-impact and good for HIIT and aerobic work.

Shenis 38 years old, and she CAN complete this. I've been doing this with her for 2 weeks now. IF she did stick with it, would this be good for weightloss? she did exersize for about 3 years before this, about a year before. then she quit for a year then she got back into it for 2 months, then I braught her threw this
