On the current season of TUF, they do an excercise on pulvers team where they hold the yellow plate(15kg) and then hold it up over the heads and rotate it around their head from 1 side to another.

Just was curious to what it worked and why it was done.

Thanks

works the arms i guess..ima give this 1 a try..time to get me a weight plate

Most likely rotator cuff prehab.

Why isn't this in S&P?

Yeah I do that sometimes. It does blow up your shoulders but really only works as part of a complex or as a finisher after a hard session. Usually I do 20 rotations one way, 20 the other, then a 20 second rest before going again.

And unless you can do it with an atlas stone, it is a conditioning exercise.

I have never seen that exercise until now.

(At least I don't remember ever seeing something like that)

Just goes to show there is no end to what a person can come up with for working out.

What was the exercise where they stand upright and push a weight plate off their chest and up in the air? Guys, I am not stupid, most will say "sounds like an SOHP", but it looks different then a SOHP.

Dan John mentioned it in one of his old articles. Cant remember what he called them but i think he used them as a warm up exercise.

There's a bloke at my gym, I don't think he works there, but he teaches a few of his mates some boxing stuff.

The first time I saw it was when he was doing it about 4 months ago.

Might ask the purpose of it next time I see him.

They push the plate straight out to the front and then raise it over their head? sort of sounds like a front raise to me.

I do two handed swings with a 50 lb. plate as a warm-up and sometimes as a finisher. It's a good exercise.

It's called "Plate 360's" from where I'm from. Been doing it since November-ish as a conditioning exercise for my off days. Works the whole upper body, except for the chest really, but it nackers the shoulders quickly

its a complete shoulder work out, militech is doing them in one of the maxim magazines

I just tried these last week for the first time at the end of a back work-out and didn't get much out of them. I'm guessing that I'll get more from them if I try them at the end of a shoulder workout.

Couple of questions;

- Anything in particular about form with this exercise?
- I used a 35lb plate; is that about right?

And by the way, nothing make you look more stupid than cracking yourself in the head when you're swiveling the plate around......not that I'm speaking from experience...... :-)

i started doing this after i saw it on the show and its good rehab for my bum shoudlder
