    This is becoming ridiculous
its time for a new UFC Champ, Dana...
IF Cruz was a man enough, he would himself give up from his title
the good thing is, if he wants to return against the best BW ever, he will be demolished

Barao is my fav BW, but that's just stupid. Who would do that? "Oh, I must show that I am a man of honor and just stop to be the champion right now".

Anyone in his shoes would not want to give up the belt they worked hard for.

I'm hoping Dana relieves him of his title but very unlikely. Once Cruz steps into the Octagon with Barao he will lose.

Yes, he worked hard for that belt
but frozing a division for 2 years? This is bs.
If you can't defend your title, you're not the champ.

I agree, but it's UFC job to strip him out of title.

If they are not doing it, it's not his problem, frankly.

Yeah, but why would he gave away his belt? The UFC is the one to blame, not him.

Barao should have been elevated to champ , not fair to him.

I remember his fight with Mighty Mouse....awesome fight.

Renan Barao is a future top 3 P4P and top 3 of my favourite fighters also :p

All fight fans should be in agreement to this. We should also agree that Cruz gets a title shot when he is healthy.

Wait Cruz is a fighter? I just thought he was a terrible color commentator...

He's not even a color commentator, just an analyst. And one of the better ones the UFC has ever had. Puts other guys to shame when it comes actually breaking down fights

Yeah I'm not a fan of him as a commentator either. I'll take Sonnen or Stann anyday

Thing is... he's more entertaining as a commentator.

Nearly nine months of the two year idle time at UFC's request with TUF 15 season. Cruz had a bout scheduled for July 2012 and the injury was announced in mid-May. Granted, he has been out a long time but if Cruz has a bout at least scheduled before the end of this year (February/March timeline) then I'm still cool with it. Why would Cruz voluntarily give up what he rightfully fought and earned. I'm not even much of a Cruz fan.

Cruz would be justified in getting a shot as he was on a good championship run before the injury but it would not suit him well to get Barao right off the bat after a two year layoff, preferably I would rather see the winner of Faber/McDonald get an immediate shot and Cruz to fight the loser , if its Faber you get a grudge match if McDonald , you have the experienced Cruz vs the highly touted young up an comer.
