My wife plays me a message on her phone. it says she is so and so and needs to set up a time to deliver a summons to me (why did they call her, not me?). they provide a case number and tell me to call back if i have any further questions.

    1. i google the number and nothing comes up (legitimate business numbers should).

    2. we called back the number on a different phone and it just says to leave a number and your case number. no "law offices of this person" or anything like that.

    3. who calls to schedule a time to deliver a summons?

I believe i had something like this a few years ago and it almost worried us. so just wondering if any of you have had anything similar, or any other phone scams you went through

Not really the same thing but by when my credit was shit, collection agents would call my wife and tell her they were going to get the police involved unless we paid in full, on the spot.

Years ago when my Dad was in the hospital and I was out of state at college he got a call in his room saying I had been arrested and due to circumstances they couldn't discuss I personally could not make my phone call. They tried to get his credit card number for $2 grand or something like that for bail. He was extremely sick clinging to life and pretty medicated most of the time around then so he panicked. Had my mom not been there then they would've got it. Takes a real scum of the earth asshole to scam hospital patients.

I get those all of the time. They call anyone who has the same name or last name as the person they're trying to contact. It's illegal to robocall anyone without their permission. Turn them in to the FCC.

I get calls like that for my brother. He owes some money or something. I call them back and tell them to take me off the list to call as it is my brother they are looking for and I do not have any contact with him.

There is this scam where someone calls you saying they need to check your phone connection and asks you to turn your phone off for an hour or two.

They then call your family saying your kidnapped and they need to transfer money to their account IMMEDIATELY or you will be killed.

Family tries calling and goes crazy and since you're unreachable some get very worried and give in.

It's a gang that does this and in one instance where the victim didn't turn off his phone the gang just kept calling his number repeatedly thereby blocking any other calls his family might have made.

I got a few robocalls from a "correctional facility" telling me to press 1 if I would accept charges. I blocked those fools.

Fair enough. I did contact RHD and they claimed to have been hacked and had to lock out that user. I assume some idiot will get burned by this. I actually just made a fake email address and responded to it just to see what type of response I get from them. If I can waste their time, maybe that's less time they have to scam someone's grandmother.

UPDATE: They responded real quick with this......

    CONFIDENTIAL

Thank you for acting as advised by my personal assistant, I want you to know that you were not contacted by mistake and I urge you to read this letter with an open heart. My name is Madame
Elma Thorens, I turned 72 last November but I’m presently undergoing palliative intensive care in
The Solomon Islands. I spent most of my life in The United Kingdom, Switzerland, France and
Canada with my late husband Sebastien Thorens Phd who died in the Swiss Flight 111 plane crash in 1998 on his way to Geneva. That one incident devastated me and changed my life forever.

After the death of my husband I became the head of his estate as we had no children but now that my health is failing, I have decided to spend the rest of my life here before I finally leave the world since I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer some years ago and I have now reached the terminal stages of the disease. Before my husband's passing, we had planned to use the final years of our lives for charity work by donating most of our savings and assets to the less privilege and charities. It is so unfortunate that he is not alive to do this with me, I have been so lonely doing this philanthropic work all by myself.

Presently, I have willed out almost all of our assets to several charity homes and the less privileged in different countries. Other than the agreement between my late husband and I to give aid to the deprived, we also agreed to start a charity elsewhere with the help of a foreigner, at the same time, rendering financial support to the individual. When we were young couples, we met a man who changed our lives forever by his enormous financial assistance to start our business. I have therefore been inspired to donate the last portion of my fortune to charity through you since my late husband and I were never blessed with any children of our own and I wish that you and your family be beneficiaries of the funds as well. Please accept and guard my sincere offer.

Although we are interacting for the first time, I believe I have divinely been directed to you as I prayed and searched online business/consumer directories until I found your contact details via
the members section of a global personal and business database (www.officialusarecords.com) and selected you for this noble cause by taking a leap of faith.

I have decided to Will/donate the sum of $2,565,833.00 USD (Two Million, Five Hundred and Sixty-
Five Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-Three US Dollars) which is insured in bonds with my
finance firm in The UK. My desire is that the greater part of the donation fund be used to help
orphans, less privileged, widows and the displaced. For your help, I am offering you and your family 25% of the total donation fund.

As per communications with my bankers in the UK, I have ensured that my predicament and intentions are well understood. All I need now is your absolute trust, commitment, confidentiality and honesty because I want to see my late husband’s vision fulfilled before I leave this world. My spirit directed me to you as I prayed and searched over the internet for someone to help me since I can no longer trust my family members and friends who have failed and hurt me in the past as a result of greed as I do not want this particular deposit to be used against my prime wish. Kindly get back to me assuring me that you will be absolutely honest about this transaction and you will use this money to the Glory of God. Also you have to assure me that you will keep this transaction confidential and you are willing to contact the finance firm located in Canada with its main branch in the United Kingdom to finalize all necessary formalities as to the release of the fund to you. I will also want to know a little more about you regarding your life history, previous charity work and what you do for a living so I can affirm that you are capable of accomplishing this task.

At the moment I cannot receive international phone calls in the Solomon Islands but I will try to
reach you via satellite phone as soon as I can. This message was completed with assistance received from my PA because of my health condition, please pardon any discrepancies. I require your urgent response if you are trustworthy and willing to help me conclude the required financial transactions so that I will inform my lawyer to prepare and process a court injunction/power of attorney making you the sole beneficiary of the donation fund. All other related documents are with the finance firm which I sent to them for safe keeping because I do not want family members, friends or anyone else to know about this transaction.

To process the affidavit of claims with my lawyers, please send the information below directly to
    my private email address:

    Contact Phone Numbers
The affidavit of claims is vital to the successful liquidation and transfer of the donation fund to you in line with legal and financial guidelines in Europe.
Thank you so much as I await your response.

So Sherdog..... Tell me how I best fuck with these assholes.

Just got a call from a random number saying they've been trying to get a hold of me and this is the last time. Then they said they want to lower my credit card interest rate.

I recommend some people.listen to Jim florentines "terrorizing telemarketers " series. He basically fucks with telemarketers in elaborate ways.

I just talk doing my Liam neeson impression..."if it's money you're looking for..."
