Even considering that fast KO loss to Stipe, if Doom beats Cain, should he get the next TS?

Some people think it´s too early for him to get his rematch against Stipe. I´m not sure what to think, because usually fighters don´t get a rematch so soon after they get KOed so easily, but this is HW, which is not deep.

Damn, that 1st round KO loss was embarrassing, no excuses....

But apart from that the fact remains, since his return to the UFC noone but the champ was able to stop Werdum, and if he beats Velasquez again he will be 8 -1 since his return. That´s a very solid record especially at HW.

Also, he already bounced back after that KO loss with a win over Browne.

    And he has kicked Edmund.

There´s also the fact that there are not many contenders left in the picture for that TS (unless you´re considering JDS far in the horizon if he beats Struve convincingly again).

So, does everybody agree he should get his rematch in case he takes care of Velasquez again? Or does anybody see a different possibility?

The Armenian Ali took that push kick like a champ. He probably would have knocked Werdum the fuck out if his team and the ref didn't hold him back.

Cain got a rematch in exactly the same situation and JDS got mauled for five rounds and got one after one win, so it's not like it's unheard of. It's heavyweight. There usually aren't a lot of options to complicate things. It's either Werdum if he beats Cain or the JDS/Struve winner.

Nah werdum should have to run the gauntlet again, strangle 2-3 people before his next title shot, why? Because I hate him but I enjoy watching him strangle people.

Yeah. It has to go (pending they win):
    1. Cain
    2. JDS
    3. Werdum

Cain vs Stipe is probably the most anticipated HW tilt since Carwin Lesnar. As soon as Stipe was brought in, I remember people talking that he may be the guy to dethrone Cain; had the right set of attributes and skills to do so, almost like JDS but a wrestler too.

Werdum may just have a huge shortcoming when it comes to fighting elite boxers that can stop his TD. Stipe and JDS looked like clones in their fight and both are the only to guys to sleep Vai Cavalo.

Yeah, excellent point. I was gonna talk about it and post the gifs of the rematches between Cain and JDS but thought it was gonna get a little too long to read... But you´re right, that fight can go a completely different way.

If Werdum puts Cain away, then 100% yes. If it's somewhat controversial, then I'm not so sure.

Sure. I mean, who cares? HW is such a boring, thin division.

If Struve beats JDS I think he will be next in line honestly.

that kick he did on edmund was truly great. But yeah he should get a title shot after beating cain. If not that then at least a rematch with JDS to determine #1 contender.

Nothing but retreads. No exciting prospects. It's ugly. Who really wants to pay money to see JDS, Reem or Doom get KO'd in the first again? Then you got guys Cain, Barnett, and Big Country who can't stay in shape or stay healthy. Just about every HW looks washed up. It's not like Stipe is that good. He's just the last one standing.

I've been waiting too long for this rematch. Hopefully it happens before they turn 50.
