Evan Dunham Says The UFC Has Refused To Pay His Ambulance Bill

It's almost impossible to comment on this without details. Isn't this under an insurance plan that the UFC pays for? Does the UFC typically pay out of pocket beyond the premium? Is insurance denying the claim? Anyone who has dealt with medical in the US knows the billing system + insurance game can be incredibly convoluted.

Probably some screwup at the hospital because the UFC has events everywhere. Or UFC screwed up by oursourcing their HR to the same place that Giblert t-shirts came from.

They are spending all their money on hiring people to track down every obscure website with an animated gif or highlight of a UFC fight and threatening to sue them. It seems certain at least some people on MMA message boards defending their businesses practices have this job.

As @CerebralKnievel would ask, have you ever worked somewhere before?

You are correct, hard to know the facts about the procedures but it's not like this situation surprises me. This is the UFC.

Coker would have paid the bill.

I know another ufc fighter that got the shaft from the ufc for a major medical bill. They sent him to a specialist, didn't get the answer they wanted ( he no longer fights ) and stuck him with roughly a 80g debt

Details of this? Most specialists that are racking up an $80,000.00 bill are going to work with insurance and see coverage before they begin the work. That's what I don't understand about these stories. No one ever gives details. Did the insurance decline the coverage? It's not like UFC is just flat out paying bills - it's an insurance policy through an insurance company, correct?

Dana said he needs to fight harder and never leave it in the hands of the ambulance driver

Dana: "The hospital was only like 8 miles away and it was a warm summer evening, we suggested he walk and even offered a free bottle of water to keep him hydrated. But this goof needs to be chauffered around in an ambulance like he's the queen of england! Walking's not good enough for him! Fuck him, we don't need guys like that in the UFC, i'm looking for motivated guys who want to fight and don't mind a walk now and then"

In case anyone is wondering, I just recently had a loved one take an ambulance ride (I live in the US). It was $12,000 USD.
I’m sure there are a lot more details there if this even true. All trips in ambulances aren’t for the same severity of injury, so that’s a huge part of what they’re charging. Also, if the person is uninsured you’re going to receive a bill that insurance companies don’t even pay but negotiate down from, and is way higher than what they receive. You stated two data points with no details. Cmon now.

Nice click bait title

He said they didn’t pay it, not refused to

I’m sure those cocks in accounting give about a quarter fuck about getting every invoice paid out

Good lord... Something like this should be so easy for these guys to get corrected.. what a joke.

Assuming it’s even more of a pain in the dick to get reimbursed if he just pays it and try’s to recoup his money...

I get these things are sometimes a bit more complicated then what we see at first glance... But at this stage of things... you’d think they’d have this portion down to a science... pretty pathetic.

He shouldn't be asking them to pay his ambulance bill. He should be asking for them to pay his Birthday party bill.

True. When my former Mother-in-law fell and broke her hip, arm, lacerated her face, and broke some ribs, the ambulance bill was insane. If I remember correctly it was in the $14K+ range due to everything they used during transport. And when I say for "everything", they billed her $48 for a box of kleenex. She asked the paramedic to wipe her one eye because blood was in it. Two tissues were used. $24/tissue.

About 18 hours into her stay in the hospital she asked her nurse how much the charges were at that point; $118K. She signed out AMA and took a bus from Dallas, TX to here in Canada. Here she received surgeries, after care, physio.. and no bills were sent to her.

Getting hurt in the US can literally ruin you for life if you don't have insurance.

Yeah, depends on what the situation was, but I am sure as hell am not going to divulge all that information here. BTW the person was insured.

You sound poor. Get better health insurance and you won't have to pay for ambulance rides.
