Esquire Magazine did an interview with Bashir "Somchai" Ahmad. A US Army Veteran who moved to Pakistan to promote MMA.

Im suprised no one has been recruiting fighters out of India. From what I here India has some of the toughest wrestlers and a real strong wrestling tradition. Wrestling is a lot less common in Pakistan and the wrestlers are not as good from what i here...
 
India has a lot more wrestlers and a lot more government support. Pakistan has some good wrestlers but it definitely lags behind India.

India has it's own MMA promotion called Super Fight League. It's famous on sherdog.
