Ridiculous. The Men's World cup generates roughly 54x as much revenue as the Women's World Cup. The only reason Americans care more about the WC Finals is because our girls were in it. Our men never are.
Only a troll would argue that women's soccer is a powerhouse sport in the USA.
USWNT TV viewership declines 20% in 2018
The debut game drew less than 100k viewers. Meanwhile, they only scheduled 14 games for television; the league only has nine teams. They also barely average over 6,000 fans in attendance per live game, so they aren't drawing some passionate base who can't watch them on TV:

Here's some stats back in 2015 when the league was fresh:

The semifinal matches notched 48K viewers.
The MLS is far more popular, and it's way, way, way down at the bottom of major sports in the States in terms of revenue and viewership.
MMA is massively more popular in the USA than women's soccer.
No it didn't, dilettante.

The WWC just drew 14.3m television viewers. The NBA Finals drew a peak of 18.34m viewers in the last two games. Viewership was down ~20% from last year, and ~30% from two years ago, but despite this, every single game virtually
averaged what the Women's World Cup Finals managed for a single game.
Women's soccer is something we care about every four years because they win. Then we go back to not giving a shit. It's not a major sport. It's not a major draw. It generates no revenue. MMA, conversely, is incredibly popular in the states, and has risen to become a Top 15 sport globally:

Notice you if go to ESPN's own website MMA is one of the shortlisted sports along the top: NFL --> NBA --> MLB ---> Soccer (MLS) ---> MMA
That's telling you what the most popular sports are in the USA. MMA has become a top 5 viewed sport, here.
