Hello all, I would appreciate any advice on improving my weakest position which is escaping a front headlock from the knees (opponent facing me and controlling my head). I am having a difficult time finding comprehensive tutorials to supplement the work that my coaches are putting into this so thought I would ask my respected colleagues here what helped them most (techniques/videos/books). I have no wrestling experience which puts me at a disadvantage.

Thanks!

Peek out if you have the arm position.

You have the sit-out and the sucker drag that are pretty high percentage, but mostly I tend to go two hands on the over hand and stand up. They can hit an ankle pick on you as you do it, but I hate having an arm on my neck.

Sit-out is great if opponent's arms are under your armpits, but TS is asking about what to do if opponent has head control. You know what they say, the best escape is prevention. JJM teaches that when you are on all fours head-to-head & opponent is on top you must anticipate that he is going to attack your neck.
1) Use both hands & catch opponent's hand as it comes in under your neck
2) Push his hand back, slide your head back & out (Don't let go of his hand)
3) Post your foot (on same side you are coming out)
4) Slide your inside hand to his tricep
5) Arm drag to his back

Only on one side from front head lock. If he goes wrong way he is putting himself on his back or into a guillotine or worse. Also trying to sit out from a good front head lock is taxing. He needs to work on prevention. like Kurt Osiander says, "You ****ed up a long time ago, bro"

He's got the sucker drag to the side he can't sit out to. And yeah he fucked up a long time ago, but he can still capitalize and get the back off either the sucker drag or sit out.

Some basic points: maintain good hand control, get up to your knees (stay off your belly), anticipate the shuck and spin-to-back & counter by swimming your arm up and blocking. If I'm playing someone with a very strong front headlock and I can't get out of it, I'll usually just keep fighting their hands, and wait for them to try and explode and take my back. That second that they're spinning around me is all I need to either sit out, take them down, or escape to a more neutral position.

theres also the knee tap if hes square with you and not staying on his toes.
