This will not be an easy fight for Lara. What little Hurd has in the way of actual boxing talent is still very tough to deal with.
 
Hurd is still pretty raw, but he's big for the weight, tough, well-conditioned, and can punch. We haven't seen Lara against a good opponent in almost four years, so it's hard to say if he has declined. Lara will box circles around him early, but Lara has struggled with fighters who are willing to walk through his punches and work inside in the past, and Hurd showed himself capable of doing that against a good fighter in Trout. Quality fight and if the odds on Hurd are half decent, I'll be putting a bit on him for a late stoppage.

Agreed. Young Lara gets the JD, now if Angulo put him on his arse 5 yers ago Hurd can put him in a world of trouble.
 
Hurd's biggest advantage is his lack of boxing skill. If he was good or even decent Lara would box circles around him but Hurd has almost no fundamentals at all so his random hard swinging style could catch Lara off guard.

Or maybe I'm making shit up because I want to see Lara get KO'ed so badly.
 
This is a fight I really want to see, April is too damn far.
 
Good fight. Happy to see someone relevant actually want to mix it up with Lara.

That said, Lara by wide UD.
 
ive been waiting to fade lara since his fight with canelo and absolutely love live betting jarrett after the first three or four rounds. the chances of hurd landing something signifcant in the first 10 minutes is very slim and hurd should get dominated far worse than he did against trout in the first part of the fight

other than possibly alfredos inhuman punch resistance prime angulo is easily a level below hurd.

also jarretts jab, mainly because of his length, is under-rated.

iirc, angulo claimed to be sick in his wide decision loss to cintron but if not, there is no way that 147 kermit does not get beaten down by 154 hurd, arguably a jmw version of ww antonio margarito who beat the life out of kermit twice
 
Great match and should be a fun one. Lara performs well when pressed and made to work. Hurd is a huge pressure fighter so Lara will have to keep sharp the whole time but I suspect he will come out victorious.
 
Major stones on Hurd. That's how a champion should act IMO.

Lara is getting a little older, but honestly I haven't seen anything that would indicate serious slippage, but it's not like he's fought anybody since 2014 so who the fuck knows?
