Is there a thread on this yet? Any excitement over Lara?

Despite the lack of excitement this fighter generates, he's still very talented. 2nd only to Rigo, he's often considered one of the more dull fighters.

And if he loses this Saturday it will wipe out 85 percent of my bankroll on 5dimes.

This weekend, I'm cuban.

"any excitement over lara?"

lol

Terrible card.

You have the #1, #2, and #3 guys fighting on the same card, and none of them are fighting each other

Its a pointless card. It does nothing for the progress of that weight class.

Almost as bad as Degale and Bute card, and the Dirrell brothers' "coming out party".

Do you mean the DeGale/Bute card or the DeGale/Medina and Bute/Jack card? Because the latter was very good and the former wasn't bad, either.

Anyway, I'm actually looking forward to Jermall/Trout. Lara/Vanes is also a meaningful fight even if people don't care for Lara's style.

I don't care for vanes' style, let alone Lara's.

Only if you're Cuban or have insomina, or both.

Yeah, that's fair enough. I'm not expecting a high action fight especially based on their first encounter (a fight that I think Lara was easily controlling and that the judges got horribly, horribly wrong). It's still a meaningful fight on paper even if it's probably not going to be particularly entertaining. I don't expect a ton of people to enjoy it and I don't fault them for not caring.

I don't get the impression many people have watched Lara fight, they read people's analysis and choose to ignore him.

That could be. He has been in decent fights in the past. Angulo/Lara was very entertaining. Lara/Williams was a decent fight. Lara/Trout wasn't a barnburner by any means, but it was a very impressive schooling of another skilled fighter, and Lara had Trout badly hurt at one point. He's not the most fan friendly fighter by a long shot, but I generally appreciate watching him box.

I watch all of Lara's fights. Same with Rigo.

Lara shit the bed on the biggest stage. Boxing fans are forgiving, but he followed it up with a series of bum fights.

If he lands some decent fights and performs well, he will regain some fans.

I have literally nothing to base this on, but I can see that Lara doesnt have much of a list of names that want to fight him (for various reasons), and hes no spring chicken at this point. Wouldnt be overly surprised to see lower level pay days until he hangs them up.

I hope Im totally wrong.

154 is completely devoid of popular fighters. Nobody ever even talks about it. The options are very limited.

If Spence moves up in a few years he could challenge Lara for the title. Or Lara can move up to 160 and fight a guy like Lemieux. Those are our best chances to see him in a worthwhile fight probably.

Or maybe uncle Haymon can put him against you know, the #2 guy Charlo. Then I'd be excited to watch.

Right now boxing just seems so uninteresting.

147 was ruined for a whole year thanks to PBC matching them up with easy fights.
160 has the whole Canelo/GGG fiasco
HW is slowly getting exciting

Maybe Leo Santa and Frampton can bring interest.

I watch every fight.

That said, I think his fight with Rodriguez was one of the first fights in quite some time that I gave up on halfway through and just did something else. Usually I can make it through his fights but not that one.

I stopped watching pretty quick too. It was disappointing that Delvin went the distance in that one.

Lara is a stinker, plain and simple. Yeah he's been in some OK fights but only when it was a fighter who worked who was opposing him. I mean, who wasn't in fun fights with Williams?

The training partners....? Ya those matchups happen all the time...

I like Trout/Charlo. Trout gets slept on a lot.
