Since Erick targets a March return and Nate's stating he wants to fight at UFC 158, I could see them fighting in Montreal. Would be a great match-up in my opinion.

Why do people keep saying Marquardt wants to FIGHT at UFC 158? He said he was looking to fight one of the WINNERS of the big ww 6 at UFC 158.

I would watch but Erick Silva is not in the right place in the rankings.

He said he wants to fight at UFC 158 and if not, he wants to fight the winner of GSP-Diaz or the winner of Hendricks-Ellenberger. Dana won't give him a title shot right away and if Hendricks wins again, he will fight for the title, not against Nate.

Erick Silva clearly needs a step down in competition, guys on Fitch's level are not good for him right now.

If Marquardt beats Tarec there is no way they give him a guy coming off a loss.

i like that fight, maybe in late april so nate has time to heal and train properly.

i think it's also plausible as Nate is still not in the good books with Dana, so Dana/Joe may start Nate with a less high profile fight to restart his UFC run.

this is not true. Dana stated that he has no problem with Nate and actually considers him one of the nicest guys in the sport.

No no

Silva's a prospect coming off a loss, he shouldn't be fighting the strikeforce beast of a champ

Marquardt vs MacDonald/Condit winner

agree to disagree, i still think there is a little bad blood.

for some reason I'll take what Dana White said over your opinion of his feelings. It's not like Dana has been known to play coy or hold his feelings close to the vest.

stupid fight

Nate needs a much more high profile fight then Erick Silva

He is a champ coming in from another Org they are going to give him a top opponent.

provide a source of Nate saying he wanted to FIGHT at UFC 158.

I only read this article about the subject :

http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/...-finale-but-looking-to-ufc-158-for-future-foe

and Nate never said he wanted to fight 2 months after his SF fight at UFC 158, but only that he was looking at this card for a future opponent.

absolutely not. i like silva, but marquardt is borderline top 5. how are you going to put silva up against him coming off a loss? good fight, but it makes little sense.

No. It won't happen for myriad reasons but specifically b/c:

Joe Silva prefers matching up two fighters who are either both coming off wins or both coming off losses. The caveat being unless one of those fighters is ranked extremely high or is an established veteran that can sell tickets. But the former is the most usual scenario. Thus was the reasoning behind Heiron/Silva.

Marquardt is a longtime UFC vet and champ of Strikeforce; fighting an unranked young prospect coming off a loss makes little sense.

If we were going to see Erick against a veteran I would surmise we would get Kampmann or Alves vs. Silva. But I suspect Erick gets a very winnable fight.

He's coming off a loss, yes, but the fight was close and he fought fckn Jon Fitch. Nate needs a few fights before he can talk about getting a title shot, just because a few guys are ahead of him. Nick will get his shot at UFC 158, Hendricks will be next in line if he wins, and if Condit beats Rory, he will be in the mix, too. Not to forget the Maia/Fitch winner. Erick vs Nate would be a great match-up, imo, and a huge test for both of them. Maybe Nate will fight the winner of Maia/Fitch or the Condit/Rory winner.

DW said him and Nate are cool and expects Nate to get a big fight. E. Silva makes no sense.
