I'm looking to purchase an AR in the near future and I'm trying to decide which optic to buy for it. I've only used iron sights in the past so I know little to nothing about optics. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each of the above brands?

I pesonalky like the EOTECH, I've used both. Try em both out on the demo rifles, try the controls and see what you prefer. Controls are very different on the two and that sways some people.

Used both while deployed. Own both on personal weapons. Recommend both.

Own both. Prefer aimpoint, especially the micro.

I own an eotech, but I've only got good things to say about it. I doesn't seem like you could go wrong either way. Like another poster said, look at both of them in a store and see what you personally prefer.

Aimpoints have a far superior battery life. I leave my P.R.O. on constantly at about 3/4 power. It's been on since October and should run for another 18 months or so.

On top of that, the Q.C. issues with Aimpoint are much less prevalent compared to E.O. Tech's laundry list of failure reports.

Lastly, for practical/defensive shooting applications, the difference between their 1 and 2 MOA reticles are negligible.

Hahaha this thread.

I prefer aimpoint.
I bought mine here

The Aimpoint t1 micro with larue absolute zero mount and I have troy buis and I love it. The pros are that it is extremely durable, have a battery life of multiple years, the micro is small and light weight etc.

Pics next to .308, .223 and .45 for size comparison

All pics were taken with my phone so quality of glass does not show and on the forth pic that was the first time I had it on the gun so it is not sighted in or co-witnessed obviously.

As a comparison to show the magnification here is an aimpoint aiming roughly at the same spot on the wall

The reason some of the pics are cut off is because with my cell phone it was difficult to take them with the magnification and the eye relief for the camera.

Acog pros- has very clean glass, very durable, doesn't need batteries, has magnification

Has some cons as well, the tritium is finicky in different light situations example is pic 2, fixed magnification, doesn't have settings like aimpoint or eotech for changing light situations.

I'm sure there are more pros and cons just can't think right now.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was originally leaning towards getting the EOTech, but the battery life issue is what sold me on the Aimpoint. This is going to be my patrol rifle as well, and the last thing I want to be worried about is dead batteries.

Aimpoint is getting my vote, doing my own research on future purchase, based on battery life. 5 years of continues use doesn't sound so bad!
