Entitled American kids

I agree with you here. I'm still not sure if that's their nature or just a part of who they're playing in public, but I agree with you that it is a problem for some individuals. Where I will disagree with you is in putting the blame on society as opposed to the family structure around the individual. For example in the same bad neighborhood one child may have a parent that works multiple jobs in order to provide for his/her child, while another chooses to work as little as possible and rely on the government for the rest of what he and/or her and their child needs. I'm not judging either case or saying an individual can't succeed and overcome all of this through sheer self determination and will power... But if you're about to become a parent then the way you raise your child and how spoiled or disciplined as well as how loving of an environment you provide for the child will safeguard against the entitled mentality, regardless of where you choose to live and raise him.

I was also trying to bridge the gap between the two sides of the debate. I think both sides have a point where they can and will agree if the semantics are tightened up a little bit and the emotions are set aside...
Yes for sure, a lot of it depends on your upbringing as well. I will do my best to try to teach my child to appreciate what he has, but I can only do so much and the rest of his influence will unfortunately come from the media, his friends, music, etc.

And yeah, the problem with these topics is people do tend to get too emotional and defensive, and half the people responding didn't even read the entire post, or at least didn't get the point I was trying to make and just chalked it up to me being some American bashing liberal, or white hating minority, or a self loathing SJW, or whatever else...

To revisit how ignorant your are. Canada is whiter than the USA. The only difference is its socialist and the weather is shit. Its like living in Minnesota. But more socialist.

You should pack your ass up in a car and move there with Lena Dunham and all the other whiny Liberals who said they would when Trump got elected. Bye Bye.

Ok

There's some truth to that but this kind of topics never ends well.

eyepoking? evertime I see you talking about romero you come up with something new. and jacaré is just whining, he didn't give proof of anything. good post aside the romero bashing though

To be clear, I'm not accusing Romero of eye poking.

Jacare Souza is.

In the decade-plus career Jacare has been fighting at the highest level, does he have a reputation for 'whining' ?

As far as I'm aware, Jacare is widely considered a straight shooter.
